“A job performance review,” Tina says as they pull into the parking lot of her workplace, Sunny Hills Daycare. “So you’ll fit right in!”
“Can’t I just wait in the car?” Leah begs.
“Sorry, sweetie. It’s not safe. Don’t worry, it’ll be fine.” When Tina gets out of the car, she unbuckles Leah from the car seat and carries her into the daycare. “Hi, Betsy,” Tina says to the woman working at the front desk.
“Hi, Tina. Who’s this cutie?”
“My niece, Hailey.”
“She’s adorable! How old is she?”
“Almost two. Would you mind bringing her over to the other babies? I figured she could play with some peers during my performance review.”
“Sure!”
“No need, Betsy,” a voice says. Tina turns to face her boss, Carl.
“Why not?” she asks.
“I’m trying something new with the performance reviews this year. I want my employees to actually do the tasks that are in their description. Your description involves caring for babies. And since you came here with a baby…”
“You want Hailey to be used for the demonstration?” Tina asks. Carl nods. “Well, okay.”
“Excellent! We can get your review started right now!”
“Sounds great. What do you want me to do first?”
