The moment that Rhonda brought up May's previously-procrastinated question, the blonde's eyes shot up from her arm, cheeks growing red. "Oh. Uh. Right." She awkwardly cleared her throat, bringing the human arm over to rub her doll arm. "Well, uh... I-I don't know if you're a girl who... who uh, who feels this way, about... other... girls..."
She trailed off, clearly having no idea where to go from there. It occurred to Rhonda that, with as few friends as May seemed to have, she probably never got the chance to work out these sorts of things, or figure out how they were supposed to be approached. Thankfully, the latina was a bit more social, and capable of empathizing. "I know what you mean, and yeah, I am. I super duper am."
"Oh, good! Uh... good for you, I mean, that's... that's good, that you're.... uh... anyway." She shook her head a little bit. "Um... if you are, uh... y'know..."
"Gay." She smiled a little bit. "The word you're looking for is gay."
She sighed and nodded slightly. "If you are... gay... well... I uh... well, I kinda think I am too... and you've been really nice to me, and you're awfully pretty, soooo..."
Once more Rhonda was able to finish May's thought, this time with an excited grin on her face. "I will totally go on a date with you, May Hudson."
"You will?!" There was a mix of shock and excitement in her voice, and maybe a hint of disbelief. "Okay! Uh... m-maybe this Friday, we can uh... I-I-I know this cool resturant that serves witches, and the teleport spell to get there is super easy!"
Rhonda's tail curled a little bit. "Yeah, that sounds like fun. Though uh... I'm not really good at... teleporting..."
"Oh that's okay, I can handle it!" May's breathing had rather clearly increased in pace. "So uh... yeah... Friday night, after last class, I can just... swing by your room?" Rhonda nodded. "Great! Uh..."
They spent a moment standing there, awkwardly looking at each other, before the clanging of a bell to announce the hour snapped them out of their awkward stupor. "I, um..." The dragon-teen bit her lip, an act which she immediately regretted on feeling those sharpened teeth digging into her own flesh. "I uh... better get to my next class..."
May bent her knee a little. "Yeah, me too... uh...." Cringing slightly, she stepped closer, pulling out her wand. "Just uh... you've got something there..." She flicked the wand slightly, and Rhonda instantly felt the familiar sensation of a light healing spell working its magic, sealing up the little tear in her lip.
"Thanks, uh... still getting used to the... dragon thing." There was another brief, silent pause. "It's... it's all fixed, right?"
May leaned in a bit closer to get a better look. "Yeah, it looks okay.... uh... sealed up well..."\
"Are you sure? Like really sure?"
"Yeah, uh... pretty-"
In the middle of leaning closer for a better look, she was cut off by Rhonda's sudden jerking motion forward. It was, after all, hard to talk when someone else's lips were pressed against your own. It was briefly, barely long enough to qualify as a quick peck, but it was most definitely a kiss of some kind. For a moment, regret at her impulsive action filled Rhonda - and then instantly went away the moment she saw May's blood-red cheeks, and the utterly smitten look in her eyes.
Unfortunately, she found her own awkwardness coming to the forefront, and quickly backed away from the utterly bewildered blonde. "So... uh... talktoyousoonbye!" She quickly spat out the words before turning around, walking away as quickly as one could without actually running. As she headed to her next class, though, there was a goofy, incredibly happy grin on her face... and she was so busy with fist-pumping at her little victory that she didn't even notice May making the same motion.
