"My name's Amanda, by the way," the girl says. "You can tell me yours when you can speak human languages again." She pauses. "But how are we going to do that? I don't want to curse someone else to save you, even if you did help me."
You have an idea, and you jump out of her hands, dash toward the lake, and look back to see if she's following you (it occurs to you that such behavior is more suited to a dog than to a squirrel). She does, and after a short distance she realizes where you're headed. "The lake? Hmm... I guess that does make sense. I know I'd rather be a squirrel than a fish. At least I could live out of water then." She shudders, and you can understand why. Who would want to spend of his life stuck in a lake? At least you can run around and get some ideas across to Amanda.
The two of you reach the lake before long. Amanda kneels in front of you and opens the bottle, which conveniently has a dropper attached to the top. She holds it over you, and remembering the witch's words you open your mouth and accept one drop. The taste is bad, but you can keep it down.
Finally, Amanda has to feed a drop to a fish. Unfortunately, she has no way to catch one, and she doesn't want to wade in to try having only recently regained her own humanity. "But they're swallowing the water all the time to breathe! If I just throw it in and let it mix with the water, it should get to one of them soon."
As she winds up to throw the bottle into the lake, you wish you had a way to express your doubts...
