"Your grandparents are going on a year long voyage around the world" his father started seemingly obvious to his gravid belly "... please be on your best behaviour, you won't see them for a while and from what I understood they may ask you to care for their home when they're gone. If that happens you may get your own place for a while, as you always wanted."
Jeff blinked a couple of times looking at his father. He pressed his hand on his belly to stop the baby from jiggling inside too much, althouth with no success.
It was good news but there were more pressing things at the moment. "Sure dad, we can talk about the details when and if it comes to it" he responded. His dad noded, smiled and left the room.
As soon as the door closed Jeff sighed with relief. The Chronivac worked like a charm and just in the right moment. He disrobed gave himself a quick glance to verify if any new changes occured, but nothing seemed different. Thats when his father poked his head again through the half opened door. "I left the fresh clothes on your bed" he said before closing the door again.
Jeff's heart was racing. Even if the robe somewhat hid his baby bump it wouldn't help him this time, but it seems his father still ignored any changes he made to himself. He glanced at the computer screen. It displayed "off" next to "other people awarness" so that's what saved him.
Now he needed to fix it before he needed to go downstairs. He quickly sat down relieving some weight from his back which slowly started to hurt. He slid the chair closer to the desk, but still needed to adjust the keyboard and mouse closer, since his belly was far too large to sit close enough. Then he proceeded to make the required changes. He changed his pregnancy status to "not pregnant"... but then the program complaied. "Changing this option would create a risk for the loose of life" it said on the big error screen.
Of course it would! That was the whole point. He tried to speed up the pregnancy or change his gender, but it displayed the same error. That's when he noticed the little "warning" icons next to all the options. It seems all the options got blocked completely.
He quickly grabbed his phone and called the tech support number and after a little wait got connected to a technician to whom he explained his predicament. "We are aware the current life-save restrictions are too strong, the next sofware update will fix it, stay tuned!"... and the hanged up. He tried to call them a few more times, but the immediately got put on hold. That was highly unprofessional.
He was stuck pregnant and male with a month to go before... Jeff got the creeps. He could only hope for a quick update of the software. Otherwise how could he even birth the child?
He paced around the room but realized he needs to get dressed quickly. His pants barely fit him any more but he managed to put them on. His buttoned up shirt was a different deal. The uppermost few buttons fastened easily but his belly was far too large for the other ones.
He sat down on the computer chair again and did a few modifications to make his shirt a lot larger. It hanged off of him, clearly not meant for pregnant males, but he managed to tuck it in so at least he looked somewhat presentable. That's when he noticed the other option. He could not modify himself anymore, but he could change reality again or add additional body parts.
Adding hands or feet would not help him, but giving himself a set of female genitals could make a difference in the long run. He kept that in mind, but now he needed to go downstairs.
