You take a look around yourself, trying to find a water source. The cows had already created quite the distance between you and the corpse of your meal. The man you'd followed into this place was no longer in sight, but there were a few observing peasants pointing in your direction. To the far east was a castle along with small farms scattered along the landscape. Unfortunately, there wasn't a readily-available source of water within your vision.
At least, you couldn't see water *yet.* You flexed your newly-formed wings. Hopefully, they were more than ornamental. You gave a few flaps to test, which confirmed they were certainly capable, but it might be tiring to fly vertically upward. As you considered what would be the best approach, you hear something in the distance.
An old woman shouted "Hold!" and your body immediately seized in place. You could still breathe and move your eyes, but you were unable to see who your assailant was. It took a matter of minutes before you could hear her steps crunching through the grass, flanked by what was likely those peasants you had seen earlier.
"Absolutely disgusting. A dragon-kin with no sense of modesty, eating one of my youngest cows! And in such a vicious manner, too!" You hadn't considered that ever since your transformation, you'd been completely nude. The scales felt like a layer of clothes, more or less, or maybe the transformation had mentally changed you as well?
The woman came into your line of sight as she continued to berate you. "She couldn't be caught any more red-handed than this! I've seen much in my life, and I'd hoped to get away from the likes of it in my older days! How do you plead, lizard?"
It takes a great deal of effort, but you managed to vocalize through your clenched jaws. "Yeah, I did it." She had you dead to rights, after all.
"At least she isn't a liar on top of all else. How do you plan to repay the damages you've done?"
"Wasn't."
She gave an exasperated sigh. "Well then! It's good news that I can make you repay it, in one way or another!" She paused, lowering her hands. "Maybe I ought to do as the law of the land says, and take a life for a life. Of course, that's such a mundane solution." Her hands flashed with an eerie purple as she raised them. "I could make you the cow you ate. Then you could pay off exactly how much you've taken. Or, maybe I could turn you into a familiar. Those're useful for housekeeping and there's always a market for magical beasts."
She whisked a hand across your body, causing the blood to evaporate. "Of course, your kind tend to be vindictive regardless of shape. Destroying you would likely be the safest choice. Unless, we can come to an agreement?"
