As Leah waits for the daycare worker to come back with clothes for her, a different daycare worker, one that Leah doesn’t recognize, comes by. The new daycare worker smiles at Leah.
“Hi, sweetie! What’s your name?”
“Leah.”
“Leah. I’m Tammy.” Tammy sticks a finger down the back of Leah’s diaper, making her squeak in shock. “Dry. Good! Time to go snoozing.”
“But-” Leah starts. Tammy picks her up. She rubs circles on Leah’s back as she carries her out of the main room and into a darkened room filled with cribs. Most of the cribs already have a sleeping baby or young toddler, wearing the exact same type of diaper Leah has on.
“Here’s a binky to help you sleepy,” Tammy coos, popping a pacifier into Leah’s mouth. She gently places Leah in the crib. “Sleep well, sweetie.” Tammy leaves.
Leah immediately removes the pacifier, but finds herself gradually getting sleepy as she sits in the crib. She pinches herself each time she almost falls asleep, anxiously waiting for either the first daycare worker or Tina to find her and rescue her.
