Ken thought of all the things he could change but found himself wanting to stay away from changing society in general because despite civics classes, it just didn't make much sense to him. Everyone was wrong for one reason or another and every solution made more people upset. No he wanted to have fun with his change, and he wanted it to be drastic...
He did something to women, well actually females, so he decided on making a change to males. He thought about all the changes his body was just barely beginning to undergo and wished the whole process was different. Years of acne due to super active oil glands sometimes leaving scars, awkward facial hair growth sometimes leaving patches without hair for years, cracking voices, and finally growth spurts that could leave lasting stretch marks. Then there is the whole mental roller coaster to consider. Ken just wished it didn't have to be so difficult... or long...
That's when Ken thought of caterpillars and how their entire body undergoes drastic changes over a short timeframe, and he got an idea.
Ken wrote up a rough draft describing a process where after starting puberty and going through an initial phase of getting taller and hormones beginning to change, males enter a second phase of puberty somewhere between ages 12 and 14, they become less and less responsive over the course of a day ultimately becoming unconscious. They then secrete a film which expands several feet from their body becoming a hard cocoon. Ken added that two tubes extend from the mouth of the encased boy, one acts as external lungs for gas exchange the other creates a bucket acting similar to a pitcher plant creating a stomach, where loved ones can add food and water.
Once the process is completed, the male emerges physically and mentally mature, indistinguishable from a 26 year old and the aging process stops until they are biologically "caught up". This process removes scars, regrows lost limbs, regrows injured organs, removes excess body fat, resets appetite, and in conjunction with gene therapy has reversed genetic diseases and deformations. It can take as little as a couple days and can last as long as a month.
In the situations where something goes wrong, such as an illness, destruction of the cocoon, or insufficient resources to complete the transformation, the male will instead break out and continue to mature normally from whatever stage they got to.
Ken looked over his handy work with a grin, "This should be interesting..." Ken flipped the book open copying in his new definition of male puberty. Then he flipped to his puberty status finding that his second phase would begin in 6 months, shortly after he turned 14... He was set to be a late bloomer, he realized with a frown. He erased the word months and replaced it with the word hours. "There..." he said with a smirk, "Tomorrow should be interesting."
