In a flash a german and a latina appeared in front of a certain apartment building.
“So this is where that streamer lives, right?” Rhonda asked.
Sofia held out her wand, which glowed brighter as she pointed it at the house. “I’m certain.”
“I’m impressed. What kind of spell did you use to find out all of this?”
“It’s called the internet,” Sofia responded matter-of-factly. “Her face was all over the news and she was careless enough to leave her address on one of her social media accounts.”
“Then what's that for?” Rhonda pointed at the wand.
“Magic GPS, just to be sure.”
They left it at that and made their way to the front entrance. During their walk they spotted multiple mermaids along the sidewalk, to Rhonda’s enjoyment many of them making out in various stages of undress. As long as she wasn't related to them it was fine. “And we’re certain we want to cure this as soon as possible? Not even giving it a ride once, if you catch what I mean?” she said while hefting her own expanded chests for emphasis.
“How often do we have to go through this? We don't know if this might just be the first phase in some nefarious master plan. It's much safer to stop this as soon as possible.” Then Sofia stopped. “Wait, are you telling me you haven't made out with someone since your transformation?”
“Uh… nope, why is that important?”
“Because the transformation process causes an increased amount of lust. I had to cast an anti-lust curse on myself, just so I wouldn't join my parents in the bathtub and you, Rhonda ‘Raging Lesbian’ Martinez, are telling me you didn't even try throwing yourself at the next best mermaid?” Sofia looked at her friend with wide eyes.
Rhonda proudly pointed at herself. “That's my secret, Sof’, I’m always horny.”
Whatever tension regarding this pandemic left in Sofia's body quickly evaporated. “That was total Scheisse.”
“Yeah, it sounded better in my head. Let's just forget I ever did this.” Rhonda slumped her shoulders. “It probably just didn't affect me that much because I was asleep when it happened. I had just woken up when you rang at our door.”
“That was at 11am,” Sofia said accusingly.
“It's Sunday,” Rhonda countered. “Anyways, what's the game plan? Going up and questioning that streamer?”
“I’m not sure, actually.” Sofia furrowed her brow in thought. “We have to find whoever was transformed first and started spreading all of this, our so-called Mermaid Zero. She has to tell us where she got this curse from, so we can hopefully trace back its origin. The thing is, the streamer transformed live on stream, so it can’t be her. It’s more likely someone else in this complex was turned and her singing then carried throughout the whole building.”
“So, randomly pushing doorbells until we happen to find the right one?”
“Pretty much,” Sofia confirmed. “Assuming she's currently at home. And even then there's a chance she isn't Mermaid Zero.”
Rhonda sighed. “Alright, let's get this over with.”
