"Well..." said the doctor. He turned his attention to Molly. "It seems that what we found in your DNA, Molly... was fish DNA."
Molly and I could do nothing but stare at the doctor. "Fish?" We both said in unison, the gears in our minds turning. "Yes... fish. Granted, we do not know what type yet. It seems that it will be an anadromous fish species, but besides that we don't know a lot." Molly turned her head to me, her face pale. I couldn't imagine what she was thinking, or going through. I held her hands, meeting her gaze with a determination to be by her side no matter what. "So... what do we do now?" I asked the doctor. He glanced between us before sighing. "This is the first case of fish mutations we've ever experienced, and we have no clue if it is contagious or not. You and Molly have been in contact with each other. You'll do home quarantine. Start with a week, and see things go. If you wish, you can do it together so as to keep tabs on each other." Molly held my hand tighter, nodding at me when I asked her if she'd like to do home quarantine together.
This is only the beginning of a wild adventure.
