It wasn't even a minute after Todd left, when Susan started shouting at Kat: "Kat, this is all your fault! If you haven't come up with this whole using magic for my art project we wouldn't be in this damn situation!"
"Oh, I am sorry I tried to help you get an A in your favourite course! You know, the A you need to get that stipend for your dream college! Oh, I am such a bad, bad friend! Boo-hoo!" replied Kat splashing with her tail in agitation.
"Oh, you were not even a witch for twenty four hours and you jumped to this hairbrained idea. I should have said no!" responded Susan, striking the water surface with her hand splashing everyone else.
"Now see here, I had chosen to-" started Kat but was interrupted by Rachel: "Guys, stop arguing! We need to think of some way to get out of this." Susan and Kat looked at her in surprise, copletely forgeting that she and Dan were even there.
Susan frowned at Rachel and said while swimming closer to her: "And you should have been better informed about your boyfriend. Who even has a boyfriend that knows criminals or...or human trafickers!? Oh, god we are going to end up as slaves of some obese richguy..." she trailed off growing dejected.
"And what am I supposed to say!? Eh?" said Dan apprehensively. Kat rounded at him while Rachel swam closer to Susan and hugged her.
"You were enjoying yourself there quiet enough Dan. So shut up while we adults try to deal with this!" shouted Kat. Dan scowled and dejectedly kicked with her silvery tail.
"Adults!? The three of us are barely eighteen Kat!" responded Susan turning furiously towards the siblings while breaking out of Rachels hug. "You yourself just turned eighteen today! Gods! What else is going to go bad today? It's not that long before sunset, so there is still quiet a lot of time..."
Kat froze when she heard what Susan said and then started furiously mumbling to herself. Dan who was close to his sister blanched.
"Oh god! What else has gone wrong Kat?" asked Rachel while Susan shouted: "What else have you fucked up?"
Kat looked at them both, her face creased with worry. "Ah, well it's just the spell I used to transform us. It works over time..."
"Meaning?" Growled Susan.
Kat smiled nervously. "Well, for a while after the initial transformation it, uh, keeps as it is. After some time though it starts turning it's target better adjusted for life in water..." Susan looked at Kat for a moment and then blanched.
"Uh, what does that even mean Kat? We are already breathing underwater." asked Rachel.
"Oh, don't worry we will not turn into fish or anything like that. We just may start having problems with breathing outside of water due to growing gills and we will start seeing better underwater than in open air and such. Heh, we will be able to see it first happening to Dan. I transformed him nearly three hours ago. The spell shouldn't start further transformations sooner than three hours after the first one. So, we should see them soonish." Kat smiled nervously. Dan gulped and if she could go even whiter she would have. Rachel and Susan frozen in shock just watched Kat smiling.
It was again Susan who got her fire back first, though this time Rachel was not far behind. "What the hell were you thinking? What kind of spell even is this? How could you even use it on us?" She started shouting.
"Just wait a moment there Susan!" interrupted Kat, "I read the whole spellbook in search of some good spells for this project. This one is easily reversible..."
"If you have the wand, I would guess." said Rachel and Dan at once. They quickly looked at each other and then quickly looked away from each other.
"...if you have the wand. Yes!" continued Kat. "I tested the spell on myself at home and I memorized the couterspell and other ways to turn back. Heck! I read all the warnings and made sure everything was accounted for. I even waited until the further transformations start."
Susan breathed in and out. Meanwhile Rachel was preparing herself to start shouting at Kat herself, but Susan silenced her with a stopping motion and said: "Ok, so you were prepared. Isn't there any way to cast the counterspell without the wand?"
"No. Not without two more witches. Well, at least one more. Right now we can use Dan to fill one spot." Rachel and Susan looked at her and then at Dan, who was as surprised by that as they were. "She's currently a woman of the same bloodline, even if she is not an adult yet."
"And I guess we are unable to make a new wand." started Rachel.
"No, I don't know how. Mom promised to teach me when I finished learning the basics. She just gave me a lesson in spellcasting yesterday evening and then told me to follow the instructions in the spellbook if I wanted to experiment."
"Maybe tell them the rest Kat. I am sure they need to know." said Dan angrilly. Rachel started massaging her temples do stave off a headache while Susan started seething again and Kat grew nervous.
"Kat, what the hell is your brother talking about?" hissed Susan.
"Ah, well I don't think it really ma..." started Kat but was interupted by the sound of someone walking towards the pool, she quickly closed her mouth. Todd came around the corner smiling like he won the jackpot. He was twirling the wand in one hand.
"We will talk after!" whispered Susan.
"Ladies, soon you will be moving away from here and to your new home." Todd told them, coming closer.
