"Hell with it," Sofia muttered, drawing a surprised quirk of the eyebrow from Rhonda. The blonde raised her hand. "I'll volunteer."
A wide grin spread over the Countess' angular face. "Splendid, my dear, splendid! Please, come right up, won't you?" Even from here, Rhonda could feel the regret pouring off her best friend. She very nearly stood up to try and go in the german girl's place, but by the time she was beginning to move, Sofia was already at the front of the class and starting the spell. Too late to do anything but watch and hope.
The latina couldn't help but hold her breath as she watched Sofia proceed through the various ritualistic steps. Chants, drawing glyphs in the air with her wand, all sorts of weird movements involved in channeling the energies of some fantastical monster. She bit back the urge to cheer her friend on, realizing that, ultimately, it would only disturb the blonde's focus, increasing the chances that some disaster could occur.
On the blackboard, the chalk of the summoning circle began to shift, the powder spreading and solidifying into a bold series of patterns and shapes. A soft glow began to emerge from those lines, at certain points being stronger than across the rest of the circle. Slowly these points pushed away from the board, extending like tendrils to connect with several glowing glyphs that floated near Sofia.
From these glyphs in turn emerged hundreds of tiny little beams of light, snaking out to the blonde's body and diffusing into her form. A near-transparent glow could now be seen traveling up Sofia's arm and wand, winding around her inch by inch. It was about this time that Rhonda's eyes began to widen, as memories of the scant summonings she had seen before flooded her memory. She had seen this exact pace, and even this exact kind of glow before... and it wasn't something associated with a one-star creature.
Oh how she wanted to yelp, to warn Sofia of what she probably already knew. All the draconic teen could do was cover her mouth and watch helplessly as Sofia's brow furrowed, the droplets of sweat betraying her growing struggle to maintain focus. She was fighting hard as she could to keep her concentration, but the hand holding her wand was shaking, trembling as magical energy far more powerful than what she was prepared for began to overwhelm her.
At last, the poor girl could take no more, her wand dropping right out of the glyph she was trying to draw and disrupting the whole of the ritual. The summoning circle suddenly shut off, and with nowhere else to go, the magic energy dancing around the blonde was drawn straight into her body. The essence of the creature she had been trying to conjure up flooded her form, its effects becoming apparent immediately in the way her skin took on a violet shade, followed by her hair, eyes, everything save her clothes. She slumped forward slightly, making a slight squishing sound that confirmed what Rhonda had been fearing. Any lingering doubt was surely cast aside as her head, hands, and legs took on a semi-transparent, glossy look. A slimy look, one could even say.
"Oh how silly of me," the Countess tried not to boast as she watched the now-slimy Sofia stagger against a wall, struggling to keep her balance as the whole of her body tried to sink down. "That was a third-level, not a first-level. It can be so hard to tell sometimes..." She tapped one finger against her chin. "And you know... now that I think about it, I'm not sure if I put up that protective ward after all. What a pity."
Sofia tried to hurl some snarky comment back at the vampire, but all that came out was gurgles. "Oh, nice try my dear, but I do think you'll need some practice getting the vocal cords shaped correctly." Mercifully, all the time the Countess had spent gloating at the start of class meant that the bell quickly interrupted her, cutting off any further attempt at mocking Sofia's predicament. Quickly she fired off the assignments and homework for the class before departing, a wave given to Sofia on the way out. The other students hurrying to leave weren't shy about chuckling or pointing at the slimified girl, save for Lichi and Rhonda rushing to her side.
"Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!" The latina was red in the face as she tried to offer some support to her friend, only slightly recoiling at the strange sensation of cold goo on her scales. "That bitch, that absolutely bitch! I knew we should have shoved a stake through her heart when we had the chance!"
Sofia shook her head, focusing for a second to try and get a windpipe properly formed. "That... would've just... made her friends mad." She cringed at the bizarre sensation of air traveling through her slimy body. "God... no wonder... you hated this so much..."
Just remembering her brief stint as a sentient piece of goo was enough to make Rhonda's features scrunch up. "We can't leave you like this - that bitch tricked you! We've gotta go find the principal, and get her to fix this, o-or something!" She could feel a fire rising in her gut - her usual sense of rage whenever somebody fucked with Sofia, amplified by recent hormonal surges, and, well... just being a dragon. Ever so briefly, the thought of trying to spew some literal fire out of her mouth to burn that vampire bitch crossed her mind. Teacher or not, she'd fucked over someone who was practically Rhonda's sister. The latina would be remiss if she didn't try and get some payback.
