Marty wasn’t having a great day. The 13-year-old jogged up to the water fountain to get a drink. He was currently taking a break from football practice, where he was learning that he wasn’t very good.
It all led back to his size. Marty was slightly below average for his age, at 5’1” and 95 pounds. His advantage was that he was a very handsome boy, with golden blond hair and perfect features that would look even better with maturity. But girls didn’t seem to want to date a boy a head shorter than them with no muscle on his body, no matter how he looked.
In an effort to make up the difference, Marty had joined a sport- football- for the first time in his life. But it was getting off to a rocky start, since he presented no real obstacle to his teammates. Plus, he had no special skill that might earn him a more prominent role.
Marty took a nice long drink and started jogging back, wiping the sweat from his brow with his jersey. Suddenly he was wracked with pain, and he stopped to clutch his stomach.
To his amazement, he began to grow. Marty grew taller until he was about 5’10”, taller than most of the team. The tight uniform pants slid up his legs to his thighs as his frame lengthened, and his jersey exposed some of his stomach. Then he began to fill out his skinny frame with muscle. His legs swelled, until he had perfect calves and thighs that strained his pants, including his new bubble butt. Abs carved themselves into his gut, leaving a perfect washboard. His arms bulged like softballs as his chest pushed outward, looming over his new abs. All told, he probably now weighed 180 pounds.
Marty recovered and continued jogging back to practice, where everyone was astonished by what had happened to him. Suddenly he was also much better at the game. No one could figure it out. Marty himself never made the connection between the water fountain and his growth.
