Although Filippo and Mattia explained to her the wonders of Pleasure Island and gave her a ticket to enter, Annetta was suspicious of these two guys and decided to resume her way to school.
The idea of taking vacations and having fun was appealing to her, but there was something she didn't like about these strangers. Also, why so much mystery? Was it really possible that there was a place without adults and where you could do whatever you wanted? A land without rules and only for girls, that is, without annoying and silly boys? It seemed like a dream.
Annetta was already close to her school, although now she was very late thanks to Filippo and Mattia. But suddenly she saw several of her schoolmates running towards her. Among them was her best friend, Andrea. Andrea was a cute thin girl with green eyes, curly bangs and two long black braids with satin hair ribbons. She wore a sturdy straw hat with green ribbon accents, a green dress over a long-sleeved feminine blouse and heavy black boots.
"No more school! No more books!", some girls were chanting off. Their excited voices could also be heard. Also, since they were skipping and jumping along, Andrea and the other girls Noemi, Angelica, Mariella, Francesca, Irene, Carina and Adelina do not see Annetta.
"What's happening?", asked Annetta when the girls were near her. "Where were you going in such a hurry?"
"We're going to a much better place far, far away. The most wonderful place in the world. It's called Pleasure Island." answered Andrea showing the same ticket that Filippo and Mattia gave her.
"I see those two guys did convince you." Annetta said taking out her ticket.
"Great. You have one too. So what are you waiting for? Let's go!" Andrea smiled taking Annetta's hand for them to go together.
"Wait!" said Annetta tempted. "I promised to study and be responsible." Andrea looked at her disappointedly while Annetta tried not to be pulled by her.
"Do you not want to go?" Adelina walked towards them petulantly. "Do not be stupid, Annetta. A place without school, books, teachers and rules. And the best, only for girls."
"Yes, we can do everything, eat cakes, pies, and candy for the suppers, run wild, drink alcohol, and play pool", continued Andrea trying to convince her.
"I'm sorry. I don't trust those guys. They gave me a bad feeling. And you gals shouldn't go either."
"What a killjoy!" Adeline mocked.
"I’m going school!" said to the cocky Adeline. The other girls Noemi, Angelica, Mariella, Francesca, Irene and Carina laughed at Annetta.
“Annetta doesn’t know what she’s saying.” Irene bellowed.
“Come on, Annetta, I want you to come. It will not be the same without you”, insisted Andrea. “In this country there are nothing but games and holidays all year long. As you have always told me that things should be. Our wish coming true.” The others girls enthusiastic approved.
“Remember the cakes and candies…”, said Mariella
“And pizza, ice cream, spaghetti and…” Irene continued.
“Cigars and beers” interrupted Carina and Noemi saying that at the same time which caused laughter among the girls.
“Well, everything all boy or girl like to eat, to drink… or try to prove.” Angelica said when they finished laughing. “There are more than a hundred girls!”
"I know. They also explained it to me but ..." Annetta didn't know what to say.
“Forget about that jerk. The coach won't wait for us all day.” Adeline rushed them. The girls agreed with her and ran back down the street.
"Stop acting like a jackass, Annetta. Come with us," Andrea insisted again before she started running.
