“Get out!” one of the men said, roughly shoving Jenkins out of the truck. Jenkins stumbled forward. When he had found his balance again, he stared at the building in front of him curiously. It wasn’t any of the exhibits. It was the zoo daycare, where employees brought their children.
“What’s going on?” he asked, confused. The men didn’t say anything. They just dragged him inside. Jenkins was dragged through multiple rooms of children, ranging in age from infant to preschooler. Some children looked at him curiously. Most completely ignored him.
Finally, Jenkins was brought into an examination room straight out of a pediatrician’s office. The men strapped him down to the examination table. A young woman walked in. Jenkins recognized her as Dr. Allison, someone who headed the more experimental research of the zoo.
“Hello, Jenkins,” she cooed in a sickeningly sweet voice. “You’re very lucky! You’re going to be the first human test subject for our latest formula! It has a…rejuvenating effect.” Without any warning, she plunged a needle into Jenkins’ arm. Immediately, Jenkins broke into a cold sweat. “Given your behavior, we thought it best to try something new on you.” Jenkins began to feel nausea bubbling up.
“Why…the…daycare?” he croaked, fighting back full-body shivering. Dr. Allison grinned evilly.
“Because you’ll fit right in once you’re done! At least, if the formula works properly. It has a 10% fatal failure rate so far.”
