Falling to his knees, John struggled to stall the transformation. Though his skin, hair, and feet changed, he still retained his old attire (glasses, undershirt, overshirt, and jeans). Covering his mouth, John used all manner of willpower he could but upon glancing at Jamie, it quietly evaporated.
She was laughing at him.
Suddenly, without warning, Ruth buzzed out from the bedroom and tackled him to the floor. Planting her blackened lips on his own, all the fight in John vanished and the two proceeded to make out on the tan carpeting. Jamie watched with glee as John's clothes changed. He even looked 2 feet taller now! Jamie didn't understand it.
But it was hilarious!
Jamie couldn't stop. It was as if something snapped within her mind. She laughed, laughed harder than she ever had before. And the more she did, the better it felt. During these hysterics, her funny bone would occasionally hit a sweet spot, prompting an even bigger outburst! Every time this happened, her apartment changed. Eventually, she started looking forward to them.
Her apartment not only looked better but SILLIER each time!
As she laughed, new memories began to emerge though nothing about them seemed "new" to Jamie. Ever since she was a little girl, Jamie loved clowns. She would watch Bozo every morning, laughing and giggling away while also practicing the numerous tricks she watched him do. Her parents and uncle were clowns and frequently toured around the world at the time. Jamie was especially ecstatic when she learned she had inherited her parents' "Clowncore" and after her eighth birthday, she was pulled out of public school and toured with her family. It was there she met her best friends, Silly Johnny and Queen Ru-Bee. Still, it was sad when her uncle turned into a mime after his girlfriend left him...
Eventually, it became too much! Exiting the kitchen, Jamie rushed to the bathroom for her anti-laugh pills. Laughing fits had been a problem for her since she was a little girl! Funny and silly it might be, it was still a nuisance (though Jamie secretly looked forward to them). Popping the otherwise bland looking capsules into her mouth, Jamie swallowed and splashed some water on her face. Like clockwork, the giggles tapered off and she was soon staring at an all too familiar reflection. Raising a hand to the side of her head, she made the phone talking gesture and announced.
*Hyuck* "Jaymee the Clown speaking." *giggle*

Explanation of Clowncore
A hereditary condition that exists in the "world" the mirror is creating. It causes a person to acquire white skin, colored hair, exaggerated noses, colored lips, blackened cartoony eyebrows, and a permanent smile. People with the condition also exhibit constant euphoria and are mostly incapable of feeling "sadness" or "anger". A subject can, however, stop smiling and cry. If this goes on for more than 5 minutes the individual becomes a mime. Mimes are the antithesis of clowns. Gloomy, withdrawn, and silent. They lack the colorful and exaggerated characteristics of clowns and look like normal people with just white skin and colored lips. Amongst clown families, having a relative become a mime is considered a great shame. Once a clown becomes a mime, there's no going back.
P.S. The context I have for the next chapter is that Jaymee only remembers that some deliveryman brought the mirror in and then turned into a clown when he looked into it. Also, the mirror only affects the families of those who look into it. Annette as such still remembers old Jamie and if she were to walk into her now clownfied apartment, wouldn't see anything unusual (until she looked into the mirror). Just some ideas.
