Paula began to giggle as soon as she saw what the camera had changed. It was too perfect! Her brother had transformed into a nine year old girl dressed in a pink and white dress. His bike— well, her bike now, Paula corrected herself— was likewise now pink and white, with a basket attached to front of the handlebars. The girl blinked a couple times at her, surprised. “Why’d you take my picture, Paula?” she asked.
“Oh, just because you looked so cute!” Paula exclaimed with another giggle. Emile clearly had no memory of being a boy, and was grinning happily at her. “Really? Can I see the photo?” her new sister asked. Paula handed it to her and watched with glee as Emily giggled herself and thanked her for taking such a great photo.
Serves Emile right, Paula thought. Let’s see how much you like being the little sister. She watched with no small amount of satisfaction as Emily skipped past, photo in hand, heading up to her room to play with her dolls. Satisfied with the change she’d made, Paula began to think of what do next when she heard a call from the living room.
“Girls! Come over here!”
Curious, Paula walked out of the garage, down the hallway, and over to the living room where her mother Rebecca and father Oliver were waiting with Emily. Rebecca wore a stern look on her face.
“Girls, as you know, we are going to your father’s company event tonight, and I expect both of you to be on your best behavior. That means no fighting and no running around. Got it?” She asked.
“Yes mom.....” both girls responded. In the back of her mind, though, Paula was already giggling as she thought about how much fun she could have at the dinner.
