She got to school and it was just like any other day. Meeting up with her friends before class, waiting for the first bell to signify class was going to start soon she meandered into the classroom while chatting with her friends deciding it wasn’t a good time to start planning her revenge on the full on loser with the rest of the cheer squad just yet, she had to let it seethe for a bit before she was willing to put more thought into what she was going to do to ruin this little shits school career.
After the bells rang the teacher walked in and began taking roll immediately, after her name was called she checked out and began doodling in her notebook. Every once and a while she would look up and jot down a few notes but that was all the effort she was going to put into this class today.
Finally the bell rang signifying the end of class and she got up and prepared to leave when Mr. lee called out to her asking her to stay after class for a few minutes as he wanted to discuss something.
Not realizing she did anything wrong in class she looked back at him owlishly and replied “sure thing Mr. Lee.”
After the class cleared out and the door shut he turned to her and said. “I realize as captain of the cheer squad you are required to dress up for the school tradition to show school spirit; but I do not appreciate distractions like that thing on your head.”
Caught off guard wondering what problem he had with a cheap fake headband that had tiny ears and a glittery horn she said “I am sorry sir, what do you mean? This is just a cheap headband; it comes in a set with this tail, armbands and shoe covers, I don’t get the problem you have with it, I am required to wear something for the next two days, I don’t make the rules but I will follow them.”
“You are required to dress up yes but isn’t there a rule about no distracting electronics? You forgot to turn off the ears and they were moving all throughout class I noticed a few people looking at them making them a distraction. I won’t require you to take them off during class, as you are correct, it is required for you to dress up, but make sure to turn them off for your next class; if I hear they are becoming a distraction I will confiscate them. You are dismissed.” He said mater-o-factually.
Confused Jen grabbed her bag and walked out of the room.
Ashley, her second in command on the squad and best friend was waiting behind for her as she walked out of the classroom.
“Everything okay in there?” She asked concerned.
“y-yeah it was just a warning for my costume…it was distracting during class.” Jen said slightly probing for a response.
“I noticed the ears moving during class, you must have just forgotten to turn off the electric part.” Ashley said casually
“He said the same thing; I don’t know what you both are talking about there are no electronics in this headband.” She said defensively
Ashley stared back in shock looking up at Jens ears and back down at her eyes. Then without a word she grabbed onto Jens arm and pulled her to the bathroom.
She led Jen to the mirror before leaving to check the stalls and make sure they were alone.
As Jen looked in the mirror she didn’t know what he was supposed to see until Ashley pushed one of the stall doors to check and Jen watched the right ear turn towards the sound.
Jens eyes bugged out as a cold chill ran down her spine staring up at the ear that was currently transfixed on the sounds of Ashley checking the bathroom for anyone.
