She must have lost it. She was seeing things.
"You have the Itch, or so it seems. If you want I can help you deal with your predicament on your terms. No one will have to die."
"What, really?! You must be kidding!"
Despite her initial bewilderment, she now was fully attentive. Perhaps there was a way.
"I can end the Itch for you, once and for all. If with engage with one another, it will be cured and I, as a spirit of these woods won't be endangered. Sadly, I can't guarantee how this will affect your changes. In the worst case, you will cease to be among the living, instead turning into a spirit. If you stay alive, my fox aspect will have unforeseen effects."

Just as Jenny wanted to thank her, the bed disappeared and Jenny once again stood at the entrance to the woods, cleaned up and clothed. And most important of all: The Itch was gone. Just as she was about to celebrate, she felt a churning in her stomach and sneaked carefully back into her bedroom.
