There was a long, silent pause as Elizabeth stared out at the flowers, in particular a white blossom that seemed to capture her full attention. The quiet went on long enough that Cassandra was prepared to drop the subject and back away, but just as she was hitting that point, the blonde succubus spoke up.
"Her name was Sacniete. It meant 'white flower'." She stopped, swallowing audibly. "I remember, when I first saw her... she was the most beautiful woman I had ever laid eyes on. I didn't know what to say, really. The last thing I remembered, the ship was going down, I was expecting to die... and then I woke up, and this gorgeous creature was smiling down at me, holding me in these strong arms..." A quiet laugh left her lips. "Love at first sight."
She grew quiet once more, eyes turning down; Cassandra simply kept an arm around the blonde's back, holding her close until she worked up the nerve to speak again. "When I started becoming something... not human... it was so terrifying. But Sacniete, she was so kind, even when I thought I'd become a monster. She never stopped adoring me... and when I had changed in full, she made sure I knew that I was beautiful."
Cassandra bit her lip. "Sounds like she had one hell of a big heart."
"The biggest of anyone I'd ever met." She reached over and squeezed the redhead's hand. "She was passionate... so very passionate, about everything. Just like you... I suppose that's why the sword chose you as its bearer. You have her fire, and her kindness."
"I uh... I can pretty fired up, but... I don't know about kindness." The amazon winced. "I... haven't exactly been Gandhi here."
Elizabeth's brow furrowed. "The revolutionary in the colonies?" She appeared confused. "I would hope you would be quite unlike that man. Daring to call for Indians to stay out of the fight as Hitler ravaged Europe - simply awful."
"Uh... that... uh... you know what, never mind." Right. Old timey British, different set of cultural references. That would never stop being weird. "Point is, I'm no saint. Ever since I got here, I've been... angry, a lot."
A delicate hand came up and laid on Cassandra's cheek. "You have been granted power beyond the imagining of most mortals - and indeed, many would have already turned to using such might for evil." She smiled, leaning in to briefly press her lips against the amazon's. "Instead, you have used it to defend this place, and to go to rescue your friend. Perhaps you have flaws, but you have strengths - and they outnumber your flaws tremendously."
Cassandra's shoulders relaxed, her forehead leaning against Elizabeth's. "...thank you."
"Of course, my love." They remained in that position for several moments, before the succubus reached up to put her arms around the other woman's broad, powerful shoulders. "The potion that will needed tomorrow, part of the preparation does involve a requirement for... passion." She grinned. "I was going to conduct this step alone, but perhaps... you can assist me?"
