Holding his hand to his neck he felt a pulse and there was no blood to be seen. It was still alive, thank goodness. For a minute there he was worried he'd fallen on his own dagger.
Alec wound the whip back up and fastened it back on his free hip. He then took a deep breath to mentally prepare himself. He bent over awkwardly and grabbed one of his arms. It felt strange the way his upper body could bend forward. Rigid, yet flexible at the same time.
He hoisted his own body up easily, he barely felt heavier than toddler Vivian had done when he'd carried her. He could see how this could work.
He draped his own body over his horseback. It felt weird having something on his back like this. His mind translated the horseback as his own back, but then it was impossibly long and horizontal. And now there was something on his impossible long and horizontal back. He knew he would get used to it, but for now it was decidedly alien to him.
Holding his body tight he got back up.
He took a few careful steps. Yes, this was going to work. He could barely even feel his own body on his back. The horse part was definitely strong. He started a slow walk and slowly started to speed up as he got more familiar with the body. His walk turned into a trot. It felt strangely natural having his legs work paired together as he crossed the landscape.
Trotting further, he thought back to his time as a harpy. Could he have flown back then if he knew that not thinking too much worked? Flying is obviously very different from walking, but he was curious. And what would happen if he took a winged dragon of some sort. What would that do? Could he move wings on his back? Legs translated to legs, arm wings translated to arm wings. But that would be the first time he would get a completely new appendage.
He tried to speed up further. His trot turned into a canter. It came to him as natural as going from a walk to a jog. Damn he was fast, at this rate he'd be back in an hour. Even better, he didn't even begin to feel tired. They could just load him up with tits and have him carry Vivian and they'd be home in no time!
The wind rushed through his wild manes. His tail flicked in the wind. It felt fantastic. Free like a horse, steady like a locomotive. He hadn't felt this unstoppable since being in the Nekomata. Even if the Nekomata had the clear advantage in agility, a horse was a long distance speed champion.
If his body hadn't been on his back he would've loved to try out a gallop. How fast would he be? How fast could he go? He would surely try and find out at some point.
As he cantered across the countryside he started to wonder, how would he approach Vivian and Andrea? He could pretend to be a bad centaur. Or maybe just play it straight and just announce himself to be Alec. The latter seemed like a safer choice.
