Kent left the lunchroom with a smile on his lips. It lasted four feet, until Darren stepped out from around the corner and shoved Kent into the lockers.
"You stay away from my girlfriend, nerdling!" he said pulling back his fist.
Ty witnessed the giant footballer's mistreatment of his friend. And he had an idea.
Darren's fist never connected with Kent's face. Kent dropped to the floor and Ty reached down, and pulled him.
"What happened? Darren was about to clobber me?"
"I said, "Hello, Principal Snerdly," and he hightailed down the hall. Glad you're okay, Kent. Oh, by the way, here's that dollar I owe you. I just found it in my pocket."
Darren stared out from his two-dimensional prison. He was an engraved version of George Washington. He was the one dollar bill that Ty was handing to Kent. He didn't know how. He didn't know why. He screamed mentally at Ty and Kent. Ty's voice echoed in his mind, "Payback is a bitch sometimes, Darren. And you just got paid back with interest. Hehe."
"Have fun at the concert," Ty said as he left the confused Kent in the hallway adjusting his cowboy hat.
