The Coachwoman was actually a witch who had put a curse on the island on every child who scoff at education and moral codes set forth by their parents and teachers and will engage in "jackass" behavior instead.
Knowing that these children were "jackasses" at heart, the Coachwoman tricked them easily with sweet words, free toys and candy, and fantastic promises of a place full of joy, fun and carefree.
The witch took them to the island, and then, once the children had enough time being bad, they would turn into real donkeys after they made "jackasses" of themselves. Pleasure Island was actually a trap for them, and later the Coachwoman would sell them or they would become part of her personal barn.
In the beginning, her raw material was the boys. But male donkey foals were only bought by mine owners and merchants, and sometimes a farmer or a circus man. Then the woman began taking both boys and girls to the island and discovered something incredible.
The female donkey foals sold like hot cakes. A single farmer could buy the entire herd because young jennies were more obedient and useful than their male counterparts and even horses and oxen. Also when the former human girls grew up, they could breed strong mules.
So the Coachwoman decided to focus on fooling only girls.

The Coachwoman, Annetta and Andrea appeared inside of what looked liked a grassy horse paddock.
Annetta was puzzled. She looked from side to side and saw that they were no longer in Andrea's room. She looked at the place, it was a
large square livestock pen formed by wooden posts and a tall wire fence. It had a water tank in the center and a pile of bales of hay next to it, it also had large expanses of green grass and some stay flies that hovered over the manure.
Annetta didn't know where exactly she was, but she saw a Ferris wheel and a roller coaster in the distance. She realized they were still on Pleasure Island, but in a place where she had not been before.
"HAWWWWWWWWWW! HEE HAW! HEE HAW!"
Hearing that noise again gave Annetta chills, she knew it was coming from Andrea, who was right behind her. Andrea was surprised to move from one place to another magically and the only way to express her astonishment and concern was by braying.
"Calm. Calm, my beautie!" Kneeling and stroking Andrea's head, the Coachwoman tried to calm Andrea with a melodious and soft voice. "I brought you to a better place. Look, here is rich and fresh grass," the woman said pointing to the grassy ground.
Andrea looked down and brought her still human face to the grass. She started sniffing it with her button nose and then started grazing.
"Good girl!" the Coachwoman cackled. "You should try it too, honey," the Coachwoman turned to Annetta. "You will surely love it."
"NO! I'm not an animal!" Then, Annetta ran towards the fence with the intention of climbing it using her still human hands, but she could not even touch it because an invisible magical force did not allow her to approach the fence.
"I'm sorry, sweetheart. But I couldn't let anyone escape from here until the transformation is over. In the meantime, you can play with your other little friends that I already brought here," the Coachwoman pointed to the bales of hay. "Now I'm coming back, sweetheart, I'm going to look for more cute donkey foals like you."
"No! Wait!" Annetta screamed, but the woman raised her index finger to the sky and disappeared in a flash.
More terrified than before, Annetta tried to escape several times without success. Seeing that she couldn't cross that magical barrier, Annetta sat down on the floor and began to sob. Meanwhile, Andrea was happily grazing and browsing on the grass.
