Can't think on an empty stomach!

added 2 years ago A Mental Bovine

John's stomach rumbled before Chris could answer. Chris giggled and relaxed a little bit. "I guess I'm not only one who's already worked up an appetite from all this shit. Here, let's both carry the bags, and I'll show you a little place I found out in the woods."

John followed along behind Chris, listening around for any possible interruptions using his new ears. It amazed him once and a while to notice them moving, but he also noticed that for the most part he didn't have to think about them. They would just automatically adjust themselves to give him a better auditory glimpse of whatever unknown pop or crack echoed through the trees. It was still very disturbing for John to see Chris's tail swish every so often in front of him, but Chris wasn't lying when he said he couldn't keep the thing still if he wasn't paying attention to it. It was like some parasite had latched onto him and still had a mind of its own--or even more eerily, it was like a part of him that he just felt an urge to flex from time to time, like someone might tap their foot or scratch their chin without thinking about it. A part that he hadn't even had for more than half an hour yet!

Soon their brief hike opened up into a beautiful clearing carpeted in tall, picture-perfect green grass. Chris laid down his bag and said, "Check it out, John." Chris's stomach rumbled, too.

"So what's out here? Wild berries? An apple tree? Somebody's abandoned garden?" asked John, wondering why Chris would bring him out here for a snack.

"Take a deep breath in through your nose."

John sniffed and noticed what Chris was talking about. For whatever reason, this grass smelled wonderful, not just in a pleasing way, but in an appetizing way. His stomach rumbled more deeply. "Surely it's not really just grass? If so, what kind could it be? It smells... fresher and richer than the vegetables in old man Tabor's market!"

"I know, that was my first thought when I came out here, too. I mean, it just looks regular grass to me, so I guess it wouldn't hurt us. I've just never thought to eat anything it before, have you?"

"No dude, it sounds pretty wack... But I'm kinda thinkin' about it now..." He took a bite of one of the blades. "Whoa, Chris, it's even better than it smells!"

"I know, I couldn't resist a quick nibble before. It took all my willpower to head back up to the pathway after my little incident. If this stuff's just growing around out in the woods, we won't even have to swipe food from old man Tabor anymore. We can just look for grass!"

A few more bites and the boys were hooked. Their mouths were green, they were pretty much just going in face first. Before long they were on all fours completely zoned out. Every once in a while, John would twitch his ears and Chris would swish his tail. They were lost to the world and even to each other, just totally focused and the sensual smorgasbord they had discovered.
