“Isaac, over here!” you heard a voice call out.
You all turned around and saw your best friend, Chris Harrison, walking towards you with his younger brother Cole who was Tim’s age, and their Dad Hank as well.
Chris was blonde with hazel eyes. He was a joker who was always up for anything. He was also pretty tall and loved sports. You assumed he some of that from his father: tall, blonde, way more muscular, and he didn’t have the hint of a belly like your dad. Your fathers went to the gym together a fair bit after hitting it off when you first became friends with Chris at school.
Cole on the other hand was pretty different from his dad and brother. He was more of a shy type but still loved comic books and video games like Tim so they were close friends as well.
You opened your mouth to respond to Chris’s call but you remembered that you were in your Dad’s body, not your own. You looked over at Tim. After a brief look a confusion he quickly waved hello.
“Oh hey Chris.” he nervously replied.
You quickly huddled together as if you were still in the middle of a game.
“Um can you give as a minute? Thanks!” Tim yelled in your voice before returning to the huddle. “What are we going to do??” He asked.
“Just pretend to be each other and don’t mess it up.” Your dad instructed as your buddy’s family approached.
Attempting to set the example, you walked over to Hank and shook his hand, as your dad would have done. “Hey Hank, how’s it going?”
“Yeah not bad Michael, just taking the boys out to the park while the wife is out for the day. You?” Hank asked you.
“Yeah I had the same idea” you replied as you looked over at your Dad and Tim. Both were smiling and doing their best to pretend to be who Chris and Cole thought they were.
You continued chatting with Hank about work and your mutual hobbies of fishing and going to the gym but as the conversation went on, Hank looked suspicious of you. He could tell that “Michael” was acting weird, not knowing details about the different types of lures he used when fishing, or the types of exercises they usually did together at the gym.
You weren’t the only one. Chris was trying to talk to your old body about school teachers and girls at school and of course Tim had no idea who he was talking about.
Meanwhile your father as “Tim” didn’t know a single comic book character that Cole kept trying to talk to him about.
“What’s going on Micheal? You’re a bit off today, is everything ok?” Hank asked.
You looked over at Tim and your Dad. Tim looked nervous but your Dad looked resolute. “Go ahead and tell them, son.”
You nodded and proceeded to explain the magic socks, how you can turn into anyone if you wear the socks and the shoes of someone else, and how the three of you had swapped bodies for the day.
You explained that you weren’t crazy and that you were telling the truth.
“Prove it. Tell me something that only Isaac would know.” Chris said.
“Alright, we both saw our English teacher Mrs Hart kissing Bill Reeves, our classmate behind the library after school when we finished soccer training last month” you said. Chris’s eyes widened.
“Y-you’re telling the truth!” Chris exclaimed. Hank and Cole were dumbfounded.
“Wait so that means, Micheal, is that really you in a little kid body?!”
“Sure is, if you want proof I can tell you some of the stories you’ve told me at the gym, although, some of those might so be suitable for the kids, if you know what I mean?” Your dad couldn’t hide his smug kid grin as he left his gym mate slack jawed.
“Do you have the socks with you?” Chris asked after he got his bearings.
“Tim” then nodded and took the rolled up pair of socks out of his pocket and showed it to them. They looked at them curiously.
“What are you thinking?” you asked.
Chris, Hank, and Cole all looked at each other.
“I mean, let’s try it.” Hank stated rather plainly.
Chris looked really excited. “Oh man this is gonna be crazy!” Whereas Cole looked nervous.
“Are you sure?” Your dad asked.
“We could switch places for a little while I guess, like you guys have.” Hank replied
“Yeah it’ll be awesome!” Chris said.
“I guess…” Cole added apprehensively.
“But where are we going to swap?”
“Let’s go to the restroom area and do it there!” Chris said and started quickly walking towards the bathroom. You laughed at how keen he was and you all followed him in.
The restroom was empty, a bit dirty, but had three toilet cubicles inside.
“Ok so whose becoming who?” Your kid father asked the Harrison boys
