James grabbed a t-shirt with an excited looking anime boy and was half annoyed that such a small shirt was still too large on him, but half relieved that it hung low enough to cover his power ranger underwear. He was about to grab a pair of pants but the teenage employee suddenly came into view on the other side of some displays.
James didn’t wait to see if he had been spotted. He turned and ran, shirt flapping behind him. He bolted away from the teen and the children’s clothing. Again, cold tile slapped under his feet. Its chill almost making him prance as he ran. He took a hard left and then a hard right and then another left to put a few angles and aisles between himself and the teen.
James was surrounded by cards. On one side were cards for mothers and on the other side were birthday cards for uncles. When he realized his mistake, James tried to keep his head bowed, but with the sounds of heels on tile coming from one end of the aisle and the voice of the teen on the radio to his manager, James knew he had to try something other than running. The cold air around his bare legs made him shiver.
“Brown hair, Pokémon shirt, and no pants. I don’t think anybody would fail to notice him,” the teen said into his radio.
James took a deep breath and scanned the wall of card in front of him, desperately hoping that at least one would have a picture of a man on it.
