Laura felt her eyelids begin to get heavy. She yawned.
She hadn’t planned on spending the night at Liz’s house, but now she didn’t feel comfortable leaving. Not only was she too tired, but she was wearing only a diaper and diaper cover, not to mention, she was two years old. It wasn’t safe to wander the streets at night at her age.
Laura turned off the TV and went to Liz’s child’s bedroom, figuring she would spend the night in there. Everything was her size, after all. As she toddled around, getting ready to sleep, she spotted a pacifier. She promptly popped it into her mouth. The sucking noise was loud enough that she didn’t hear herself pee her diaper.
She turned off the lights but left the nightlight on, removed the diaper cover so that she would be more comfortable, and dragged the toddler training potty near the toddler bed. Hopefully, if she woke up and needed to go, she would be able to make it.
Satisfied, Laura crawled into the toddler bed, snuggled one of the stuffed animals tightly, and closed her eyes. Lulled by the gentle light of the nightlight, the comfort of the stuffed animal, and the suckling of the pacifier, she fell asleep quickly.
When Laura woke up in the morning, she couldn’t feel the urge to go. But she knew that after sleeping for so long and eating a full dinner, she needed to go. So she got out of bed and toddled over to the training potty, where she…
