If you knew Brian and Stacie, you'd think they were the perfect young couple. Brian was 17, and was a star athlete, participating in both track and baseball. He had the handsome looks of a young movie star. Stacie was 16, and was a quiet, reserved girl. Though highly intelligent, her dreams were simple. She wanted to be a housewife, and have lots of kids. She loved Brian a lot.
Now this isn't to say Brian didn't love Stacie, but he wished she would stand up for herself more. She was always thinking about the future, when she should be enjoying the fact she was young and pretty, in his opinion. And sometimes she'd talk about kids, and even though he could see himself married to her one day, he was in no hurry to become a dad.
Then it felt like a mist washed over them. Brian's letterman jacket vanished, and instead of jeans and a t-shirt, he was wearing nice khaki slacks and a teal polo shirt. His hair was handsomely styled, and it had the healthy look of someone who used conditioner often. A pair of metal framed glasses appeared on his face, and he started thinking about being a good provider for Stacie, and maybe one day, their family.
Stacie's glasses vanished, and her auburn hair became a dark red color. Her modest dress was replaced by ratty jeans and a black t-shirt (a few sizes too large for her) that proudly stated 'FIGHT LIKE A GIRL' in white block letters. Her hair became mussed, and while she didn't get any taller (being noticeably below average height), she seemed to gain muscle tone. She was an athlete now, playing softball and volleyball, though she really wished her school had a tougher girl's sport like lacrosse or something. Her sensible flats were now well worn and comfortable gym shoes. Her bright green eyes seemed to flash, and she aggressively led her boyfriend through the mall- everyone called it a shopping center, but really, it was just a fancy mall.
"Look, Brian, I agreed to wear a dress to have dinner with your folks, so let's get this over with, ok?"
Brian smiled happily. "Ok, Stacie."
She sighed, exasperated. "You're lucky you're cute. Why do you always agree with me? Come on, sport, grow a backbone. It's like I'm dating a girl!"
He blinked. "I thought you liked girls?"
"My sexual preferences aren't at issue here- you being mild mannered, is! I don't understand how I fell for a nerd like you anyways." She shook her head.
"Now Stacie, you know you're smart. You could get better grades than me if you wanted to."
She glared up at him, a stubborn look on her face. "Well I don't want to. You're going to make heaps of money after college, and I'll just be a jock girl. Honestly, you could do better than me."
He shrugged. "I don't want to do better. I love you."
She slugged him in the arm. "Don't you dare make me cry in public like some weepy little girl." Then she flashed him a crazy grin and grabbed him by the front of his shirt, pulling him down for a passionate kiss. "I do love you though. Just stop talking about kids, ok? If you think I want to spend nine months getting fat with some parasite in my womb, you're insane."
"Yes, Stacie." His soft smile made her want to slap him. Honestly, if he worked out a bit, he could have been a great athlete, but all he wanted to do was read. That having been said, she connected to him in a way she never did with any other guy- he was kind, courteous, and always had her back. That he was easy on the eyes and was a great kisser were also huge plusses. He didn't even seem to mind that she wanted a girlfriend, and not for any perverted reason!
She dragged him off, wondering not for the first time, how she got so lucky. Brian was going to make her very happy, she knew. And anyone who got in the way of that happiness, was going to get their balls very painfully removed!
A chestnut-haired young woman watched the couple pass on by. She'd been using her ring to try and undo the damage she'd done to the lives of various people in the shopping center that day (well, this day- time travel was confusing sometimes). Here though, she realized she didn't have to do a damn thing. "Well, that was easy!"
She left on her way before the 'curse' her girlfriend had put on her started to really kick in...
