It began when I made her clothes disappear

Malin The Human

To be human. It seems a little cliche, but ever since Malin was little, she was curious about the surface world. There was an entire world existing right next to hers, with its own people, culture, and ideas. So close yet so far away, with the grand hurdle being her mermaid physiology.

But now, right here right now, Malin possessed the means by which she could break the barrier that was her physical form and explore the world that she had longed to know for her entire life.

Her body brimming with excitement, Malin flicked her emerald tail with joy as she made powerful strides to the surface. Breaking the surface, Malin beelined for a secluded part of the nearby beach and pulled herself ashore.

Malin rested on the beach, taking one last look at her tail. Well, “last” was kind of an overstatement. She wasn’t just going to abandon her life, her friends and family under the sea. It would be more like a sort of….unannounced vacation. A couple days on the surface, learning and experiencing human life, then back to her life underwater. Nobody would notice. If she had told anyone she would have gotten the same old spiel about “dangerous humans” and what not. Not this time. Nothing was going to get in her way.

Malin closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Then she opened them. Focusing on the ring. She made her wish.

“I wish I was a human.”

No sooner had the words escaped her lips, Malin was seized by intense sensation. She cried out as a powerful surge flowed into her, causing her to shake, and her tail to thrash about, slapping on the sand. The sensation was most powerful there as she slammed it against the ground. Pleasure and pain filled every inch of her as her screams echoed on the empty beach: “OH, OH SHIT! OH YES!”

With every strike of her tail, her emerald scales began to flake off, revealing more and more of her changing form. Malin’s excitement grew and pleasure began to overtake the pain as the scales fell from her waist, and she bore witness to the unmistakable sight of human flesh!

Her eyes and teeth clenched. Malin could feel the remains of her tail separating as the wish worked its magic and she lay there gasping. What was once one singular limb was quickly becoming two as the scales flaked off, turning the surrounding water a brilliant green. Hips, thighs, knees, calves, all coming into existence as Malin’s forming limbs throbbed and spasmed, her shaking them uncontrollably as the separation continued.

Malin cried out as her tailfin separated, signaling the full formation of her limbs. Her fins became quickly absorbed as their structure rapidly changed, overtaken as they became recognizable as human feet and digits.

As quickly as it came, the feeling subsided. Malin lay there, panting, much of her strength taken by the transformation. For how long, she didn’t know. Seconds felt like minutes felt like hours. Then, still groggy, she pulled herself up.

Looking down, her groggy feeling instantly vanished. Instead of her emerald green tail, she found herself staring at two, strong beautiful human legs. She could feel them, feel the strange yet pleasurable feeling of having two lower limbs instead of a single one. She took a moment to take them in, to focus, to familiarize herself with every muscle of her changed form. She began to focus, focus on making her new foot rise out of the water. A loud gasp of joy escaped her lips as she witnessed her new appendage move. A wide grin invaded her face as each individual digit began to move, all under her control.

This was real! She was human! She had done it! She looked at the ring on her finger, her grin ever wider. “Whoever you are, thank you.” She whispered.

Slowly and carefully, Malin moved her new limbs, giggling all the while, maneuvering them into a kneeling position. She slowly moved one of them forward, planting her new foot on the ground. Then, with her arms held out, brought her other leg forward, pushing up. Shaking a little, Malin stabilized. Then, full of excitement and wonder, brought her right leg forward. Then the left. Then the right again.

Malin began to laugh out loud. She was doing it! She was walking! She was walking like a human! She was-

*SPLOOSH*

Well, she *was* walking. Malin sat there, feeling the wet sand on her human rear. Her mind raced with the possibilities. What would she do? Where would she go? What kind of people would she meet?
