“Wait... oh Lord it is,” October says, rolling her eyes,
“Kelvin!?” Chelsea yells with her much more frail voice,
“Y-yeah, it’s me, I don’t know what happened to me,” he said, holding his hands up, looking at them. They were green, like the rest of his body. He was tall, very tall, taller than anyone in his family... or so he once thought,
“October, how the hell did this happen!?” Chelsea shouted at her best friend, who was clearly trying to deal with something else,
“Can you give me a moment,” she said, calmly, she was clearly forcing it,
“No!” Chelsea yelled, “no I won’t! My boyfriend just turned into a green woman, you expect me to ‘give you a moment’!?”
“Yes I do!” October yelled, this made everyone go silent. October was a calm, collected person, usually dealing with situations by talking about it, meditating, or simply taking a sip of water. But she couldn’t do any of that. There was no water down here, there was no calmness. October was stressed, big time, “I expect you to realise that I’m trying to figure all of this out without Yuri becoming nothing but magical apples. You two are fixable! Is that what you want to hear? Yuri is in a way worse condition.”
Both Kelvin and Chelsea were silent, in shock of October’s sudden outburst,
“I think... I think I know what to do. Grab me the little glass pot labelled ‘fat converter’.”
Chelsea saw it immediately, in fact she knew where it was. She’d looked at in a number of times when she’d been in this basement. She always wondered what it was.
She reached up to try and grab it, she couldn’t. Kelvin spotted it, he lifted his long green arm up and grabbed it with ease, giving it to October.
October pulled out the cork, placing it on the side. She waved her hand and six individual brown coloured flakes rose out of the top. They floated there, surrounded by a familiar red mist. October grabbed the cork and put it back into the pot. She then placed the pot on the table, out of the way of knocking over by accident.
October made her hand into a fist, turning it a little. This caused the flakes to be crushed into an almost powder, more like grains of sand or salt. She then took those grains individually, using the mist, and placed them right above Yuri’s skin, specially where the bumps appeared. She then took her other hand, held up two fingers and flicked them downwards. A green light appeared briefly as tiny green magic needles flew around, entering exactly where the grains were positioned above. Then, seconds after, October waved her other hand, the red mist pushed the grains into the pierced skin.
October let out a sign of relief. She pushed her back into the desk, hands on top, resting. She closed her eyes and looked up, took another deep breath, then started saying, under her breath, “fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty,” she pushed herself up, walking back to Yuri, she held up her hand, the one that controlled the red mist. And suddenly squeezed it.
Yuri’s whole body seemed to sag suddenly. All of the red bumps melted in an instant, becoming fat.
“W-what...” Yuri tried to say, “hngh...” she made a weird noise, as if she was going to vomit, but she steadied herself. She looked all over her body, “what just... what happened to my... oh my god!” She said, looking all over herself. The red colour was less vibrant, but still visibly there.
“What did you do?” Chelsea asked,
“Oh, yeah. I took the fat converter and inserted it into her skin, it took a while to settle since it’s pretty much an instant change. It takes anything non-fat and makes it into fat. I had to let it spread evenly otherwise her bones would’ve turned into fat too, which I think we can all work out what would’ve happened if that were the case. But she’s fine, all her Apple parts are gone... oh wait,” October stopped herself, she looked at Yuri’s head. She realised there was still a green stem attached to her bright red hair. On it, grew three perfect looking apples, “Yuri, hold still,” October said. She climbed upon a chair and began delicately removing the apples one by one. She made them float after she’d removed them.
“Okay. I’ll keep those for other potions in the future. Now, about your body...” October thought for a moment, scratching her chin, “I don’t think I can do anything about it,”
“WHAT!?” Yuri yelled,
“S-shhh!” October calmed her down, “my parents are still asleep... then again they are sleeping like trolls. But still. Your body is something black magic can fix with ease... I know someone who can do black magic, he’s really good at it... well as ‘good’ as black magic is. I mean it is literally evil magic.”
“Do you think your black magic can fix me too?” Chelsea asked,
“Oh, no Chelsea, I can fix you. Just a simple youth potion and a slim fruit should fix you easily.” October said happily.
Then she looked up at Kelvin.
“How... how did this happen to you? You didn’t touch anything in here, did you?”
“No. I didn’t,”
“Hmm... okay...” she said, thinking again.
“You look like you got really stressed there, October,” Yuri said, looking at October’s face,
October gave Yuri a weird look, “what do you mean?” She questioned, “do you remember me shouting at Chelsea and Kelvin?”
“N-no... you just... your...” Yuri said. October realised, Yuri wasn’t looking at her face.
She was looking at her hair.
