"MOMMY! MOMMY! HELP ME! HELP ME! HELP MEEEEEE!", Adelina cried. "I'm not a donkey! Don't let me be a don ---"
Suddenly, Adelina stopped crying, screaming, running, and kicking into the air. She had a vacant stare that scared Annetta. Annetta had already seen that expression in her friend Andrea and she knew what was happening to her ... Adelina's mind was changing. Then Annetta approached the girl-headed donkey foal.
"No, Adelina. Don't give up. You are a human girl, not a donkey. Please get up!", Annetta told her. But Adelina remained silent, in a trance state with her almond-shaped blue eyes wide open and her mouth half open, without moving except for her tail that she began to swish.
A bit later, Adelina woke up from her trance. Then, she looked at the grass, she brought her human head down, and bent her four knees. Adelina lay down on her stomach slowly over the grass, hiding her front hooves over her hairy chest and scraping the ground with her hind hooves. Adelina rested in a "standing position" as a real donkey.
"Please! Please! Get up, Adelina!" Annetta pleaded. Hearing Annetta's screams, Adelina brought her upturned human nose to Annetta's furry white belly to sniff her. There was no doubt, Adelina was behaving like a curious donkey foal.
Annetta's scent became familiar to Adelina, so she smiled when she recognized Annetta and, closing her eyes, brayed at her.
"Haw! Hee-haw! Hee-haw! Hee-haw!" Although Adelina still had tears on her human face, she was smiling now.
Annetta was terrified, the same thing that had happened to Andrea first and then to Adelina ... was going to happen to her. And just when she was thinking of Andrea, a donkey foal dressed in a green dress over a long-sleeved feminine blouse had stood next to Annetta without her noticing.
Then that young jenny stuck her tongue out and licked Annetta's hand. Surprised, Annetta turned her head and realized that the donkey was Andrea.
Andrea's human head had disappeared. Her face had lengthened into a snout and it had become covered with long gray hairs, with the exception of her eye rings and her little muzzle that were white. The only things she kept were her green eyes, her curly bangs and her two long black braids with satin hair ribbons.
Although Annetta was haunted by her friend's new look, she found it a bit funny to see a small gray donkey with two braids and inside Andrea's clothes.
Andrea saw Adelina lying on the grass and approached her. When the two former girls saw each other, they brought their faces closer to smell each other. Andrea sniffed with her snout between Adelina's long ears and Adelina sniffed Andrea's neck and chin with her upturned nose.
The two jennies recognized each other by their familiar scent, and were glad to find themselves among so many donkeys with unfamiliar scents. That joy was more noticeable in Adelina because she still had her human face.
Suddenly, Andrea and Adelina started braying each other. Excited, Adelina got up from the grass and, wanting to play, she began to chase Andrea by throwing loud brays at her. Andrea, who understood that Adelina wanted to play, ran in circles and jumped so that Adelina would not reach her.
With tears in her eyes and covering her mouth to keep from screaming, Annetta watched as Andrea and Adelina behaved as if they had always been donkey foals.
Annetta also watched Adelina's majestic long platinum blonde hair gradually darken to black and her face was pulling away from itself, as a donkey muzzle with buck teeth started to take shape. Quickly, Adelina's face was covered by a soft gray fur, except for the eye rings and the muzzle that were covered by a soft white fur. Adelina was a donkey inside and out, a gray donkey with long black mane and blue eyes.
