As it happened the performance couldn't have gone better and Christina was the star of the show. In particular, her interactions with the audience went down a storm. People were wowed as she was able to correctly pick cards from a pack, identify celebrities and political figures by pointing at them and behave as a perfectly trained and obedient monkey to any audience member given the microphone to give her an instruction. This would have been demeaning if anyone had known who she was, but with the anonymity of being a monkey it really wasn't that bad of a deal and certainly a memorable experience. One she would be repeating later that day.
After the show Christina was congratulated by a clearly delighted Mr Spiletti, now decked out in his ringmaster gear, and ushered backstage so he could continue with his hosting. The stagehand she was passed onto was considerably less friendly than Spiletti though and, once her tutu had been roughly removed and she had been given a few moments to sip water from a beaker and snack on some more ground up fruit and nuts, Christina was ushered towards a cage that already contained Bubbles and King. Surely that wasn't supposed to happen - did this guy not know Christina was usually a human? The answer soon came when she tried to resist and was threatened with some kind of electrical prod. Unable to explain herself, already a continuing frustration of this job, Christina had no option but to climb into the cage with the other monkeys and hope this error would be rectified by Spiletti soon.
Once she had been securely locked in, Christina's captor left the room so she was alone with the two male monkeys. Christina looked up at the clock - the next performance wasn't for another two hours. She could only hope she wasn't stuck here until then.
