Emily decided they better not ignore this and just play it cool, walking over quickly and opening the door.
There stood Paul, Emily's father and Rachael's husband in this new life. Paul was tall and handsome; his dark hair had a bit of a receding hairline that made him look very distinguished at 40. His features combined with Rachael's had given Emily her new look, keeping some familiarity to the changes to her body that occurred as a result of her "new "mother.
"Hey, everyone OK?" Paul said with a slight concern in his voice.
"Oh, hey dad! Yeah, we're good. We just, um, saw a spider!" Emily said, thinking quickly.
"Yeah..." Rick added awkwardly. "You know us girls...haha!"
"Right..." Paul said, raising his eyebrow slightly. "Anyway, honey, are you coming? We're going to be late."
"Yeah, right...wouldn't want to be late!" Rick said, looking obviously confused.
"For dinner? We're going out, remember?
"Oh, of course! How could I forget...I guess that spider really spooked me huh?" Rick said, giggling nervously.
"You're so silly sometimes. Meet me at the car when you are ready!" Paul said, smiling. Then he did something neither Rick nor Emily were expecting. He leaned in and gave Rick a kiss on the lips! It was a quick peck, certainly nothing unexpected for a husband to share with his wife, and he turned and left quickly without saying another word. But Rick's new body reacted immediately as his sensitive areas became warm and tingly. At the same time, a flood of new memories entered his mind. Rachael remembered growing up as a girl, going to college, and meeting Paul, the love of her life. She remembered how she cried when he proposed to her. She remembered their wedding. And she remembered the countless lovemaking sessions that ultimately led to the conception of their beautiful daughter. Emily! Her sweet baby girl. Oh, how she loved her, but no longer as a boyfriend; instead as a mother!
"Hello? Snap out of it!" Emily exclaimed, breaking Rachael out of her dreamlike trance.
"Oh my God. Emily!" Rachel exclaimed. "I remember it. I mean, I remember my life the way it is now. I remember meeting your father. I remember getting married. Oh honey, I remember giving birth to you! You are my daughter! This incredible!"
"Woah, that is so freaky!" Emily said. "But...do you remember your life as Rick too?"
"I do." Rachel said, thinking deeply. "But it doesn't feel like a memory. It feels like a story someone else told me. I feel like this is me. I'm Rachael Collins, Paul's wife and your mother!"
"Okay, mom, this is getting way too weird. I think its time we tried the camera again." Emily said, completely oblivious to the fact that she just referred to the older woman with her as "mom" and not "Rick."
"Wait! Hold on." Rachael said. "I mean, couldn't we maybe try this out for a while? Live a day as mother and daughter? We can change back any time we want. Let's let this one play out for a bit."
"Uhh" Emily stated uncertainly...
