"Yay!" shouted Jana. Lutfiyah smiled. She knew that for Jana Change Day was just a day for a big party, and men were just those funny-looking people she saw in old TV shows. Jana knew her mother and many other women had been men once, but the fact wasn't at all important to her.
"Now go say good morning to the goddess, and be sure to thank her for the change." Jana scampered to the living room for her (somewhat hurried) morning devotions. Lutfiyah started making changeday pancakes.
Changeday pancakes had become a tradition in post-change America because they were soft and round, symbolizing womanhood. Lutfiyah put a cherry in the middle, to give the pancakes nipples. They were ready by the time Jana came back to the kitchen.
