Jack could only gawk at the reflection he shared with Teddy in the mirror. A confused and scared two headed boy, both heads distinct yet appearing to be blood related, gazed back. "Th-this isn't real. This just can't be happening. This doesn't happen. I-I have to wake up or something..." Jack said finally tearing his gaze away from the mirror. He reached across his and Teddy's chest to pinch his friend's arm. He didn't feel it. But he did feel the slap from that arm's hand as it struck his.
Teddy glared at Jack for only a moment before it washed away; he again mirrored Jack's fear. "This... isn't a dream Jack... We're really... This is real." Teddy said breathlessly. He was finding it hard to take deep breathes. Panic was flooding their system, making them uncoordinated in their effort to breathe. Their diaphragm struggled and spasmed from receiving conflicting signals. "Breathe... Jack..." Teddy tried to say. "We need to... breathe."
"Breathe?" Jack gawked at his friend. "We're a fucking fr..." Jack could not get air in his lungs. A new panic started to overwhelm him; he could not breathe. Jack reached for his throat, his eyes wide. A few frightening moments of no air passed, before he was able to gulp a breathe of air.
Teddy was trying to time his deep panicked breathes with Jack, watching carefully as Jack's side of their chest rose and fell. "Jack, I meant that we... need to breathe... together. We can't fight each other for air." Teddy said, having an easier time talking as air again filled their lungs. Teddy was always more of the biology nerd of their group.
"Great... thanks for the advice... brainiac." Jack said, relieved to have his lungs, or their lungs working again. A spark of happiness was between them, but it disappeared again when they glanced again at their reflection. However this time, they managed to keep breathing with little difficulty. "What the hell are we going to do?" Jack asked the question that was on both of their minds. This situation they found themselves in was something out of a nightmare. He was a freak, or at least half of one. Jack hoped that Teddy didn't blame him. He turned his head to look away from the friend that shared his body. He instead looked at the unusually quiet Carter, hoping he would say something. Jack was on the verge of tears. Guilt, fear, anxiety, and surprisingly anger were all confusing emotions swimming through his head.
Carter stared, though he tried not to. He just could not take his eyes off of what his friend and twin brother became. He was frightened for them, but he also was struggling with a sense of guilt and grief. He could just have easily stepped into the clothes with Jack instead of his brother. Teddy just happened to volunteer first. But also, he didn't know how he felt about being twinless. Staring at his not so identical brother was... unsettling. Carter gulped. He opened his mouth to say something, but closed it before words could come out. Instead, Carter stood and slowly walked to his joined friend and brother. He knelt down and wrapped his arms around them, trying to give them a comforting hug. It was odd feeling two heads leaning on his shoulders, but only hugging one body. After a moment, he let go and sat down beside them. "We'll... figure something out guys." Carter needed to focus on helping them find a solution. There had to be one. "Those clothes... fused you together. There has to be a way to undo that, right? Lets think positive. There has to be something..."
