Dave ponders for a while on what he should do.
~Perhaps I could keep testing the canvas on more inanimate objects? No... I've already seen what it can do to objects... umm... Maybe I could test it on myself? Errr... maybe not, how would I be able to get out if I go all the way in... I could get stuck inside! ... what if I turn inanimate... like, a real painting? Erm, maybe I shouldn't be messing around with this alone...~
Dave thinks on it some more before he gets an idea. He has another rather artistic friend (YOU) that he hangs out with about once a week that he likes to do art trades with and see who can draw better. Dave usually wins because he can do more than just various styles of chibi and anime like you usually do and how you would sometimes go off on some tangent about what life would be like if it were more like an anime.
"Yeah he'd be perfect to test this out with me, he should be off work right now so let me give him a call."
-Meanwhile-
You are a rather unfortunate fellow; overweight, has to wear glasses to see whats in front of your face and has some serious problems with acme. Your dark brown eyes and unkempt reddish-brown hair don't exactly complement your out-of-shape 5' 9" stature and messy appearance. Your apartment is littered with various manga, figurines, anime disc sets and all of your various drawings of different characters and waifus you've had over the years or that just drew your interest. You even have one of those wall-hanger swords you could get anywhere for about 30 bucks. Your about as stereotypical of a weeb as you can get.
Your minding your own business and are about to start settling down from your local fast-food job to play some video games when the phone rings. -ring ring! ring ring! You go to pick up the phone and it's Dave on the other line.
You: "Hello?"
Dave: "Hey, are you off work today?"
You: "I just got off for the next few days, what's up?"
Dave: "Man, your not going to believe this but I got something I really need to show you! Do you think you can come over to my place? Like, right now?"
You: "Woah dude, whats the rush? What happened? You adopt a new pet or something?"
Dave: "What?! Oh, nononono, this thing is WAYYY cooler, but... you'll just have to come over and try it out yourself, this thing is awesome!"
You: "Wait... you want me to come try something? Was this something you were planning for me?"
Dave: "I guess you can say that... I just need you to see how it works! Trust me, you'll be amazed when you see what this thing can do! I'll get pizza for the both of us too."
You: "Is there any reason you aren't telling me what it is?"
Dave: "I don't want to spoil the surprise for when you see it... Trust me man, this thing is going to be right up your alley."
You: "Alright, alright... I'll be over in like 15 minutes... now where did I leave my shoes..."
Dave: "Oh btw, what kind of pizza did you want me to order?"
You: "Uhh, just cheese is fine with me."
Dave: "Okay, I'll do a half-and-half with pepperoni. Promise you'll come over right away?"
You: "Yeah sure, just let me finish getting my shoes on and I'll be over" -click-
You seem a bit pondered about whatever this "thing" Dave has for you is, but whatever it is, he seems really exited to share it with you. You finish putting on your shoes and grab your jacket before heading out. Dave's place is just down the road a bit from here so it won't take long for you to get there.
-Meanwhile at Dave's place-
Dave puts away his phone and looks back at the empty canvas. "Ok, how am I going to show him how this thing works... He has no idea it's magical and can suck things inside and make them 2D... Hmm, i could toss something inside it like I did earlier to show him how it works but... It might just be funnier to push him inside the painting... Hmm, what if he becomes inanimate or can't get out... I mean, I was able to pull objects out just fine so... Hmm...."
Dave continues to think on how to best introduce you to the canvas's magical effects until his door bell rings.
-ding dong!- You: "Hey Dave, you in there? Let me in!"
Dave: "Oh right, right. gimme a moment to get the door open."
Dave opens the door to see you really did just slap on your shoes and your jacket and came right over. "Alright awesome, your here. Come on, you have GOT to see this thing. I only got it for $10 at an art supply store but man, is it worth more than every penny." Dave leads you to the center of his studio apartment where his easel with the canvas is set up.
"Ta-da! Here it is!" Dave happily waves, presenting the empty canvas.
You almost bust out laughing and crack a smile. "You called me all the way over to see a big blank canvas..."
Dave: "Yep! But this is no ordinary blank canvas! Oh no, I wouldn't have called you over in such a hurry if that was the case... This canvas is magical! It turns real things we push into it into paintings! In fact, let me..."
