The lunch period finally arrived and as Jen entered the cafeteria, she could already smell the delicious food that was being prepared by the lunch ladies. It smelled so good – she hadn’t smelled anything so good at school in terms of food in a very long time – and she never even noticed that her nose slowly started undergoing a major change. It not only doubled in size but also protruded outward on her face, as her nostrils began to change shape and turn upward on her face, making her nose so cold, damp and wet. Her sense of smell now became more stronger than ever before. She could smell everything from miles and miles away, smells that she wouldn’t have normally been able to pick up before, but now each smell and each scent became so invigorating to her. She couldn’t help but fall back down onto all fours and start sniffing the ground, the air, and all around her. It felt so good and refreshing to Jen as her new doggy nose began picking up more and more smells from what some of the other kids were eating, but that also reminded her: she had to eat too! But what could she eat...
As Jen looked around the serving table, she couldn’t help but salivate at all the wonderful delicious meals that were being served, from the macaroni and cheese to the cheeseburgers and the pizza. It all looked so good to her, but then she remembered what she was told to pack for lunch this morning: the dog food! Of course! Why didn’t she think of that sooner?!
She grabbed a seat at an empty table and emptied out the contents of her backpack and out came the bag of dog food, as well as the two dog bowls, one for her food and one for her water.
She grabbed the food bowl and quickly emptied the bag of dog food as it poured into her bowl and went all the way to the tippy top. She then grabbed the water bowl and went over to the nearby water fountain and filled the bowl with water all the way to the top as well. Now she was ready for a meal that certainly looked delicious to her!
But somehow, it felt like Jen was forgetting something... oh yeah! She had to eat and drink on the floor because that’s how dogs eat and drink and, well, she is a dog after all.
With that missing problem solved, Jen put both bowls on the ground in front of her and dropped to all fours and started munching away at the dog food. She instantly fell in love with the taste of the kibble! She didn’t even bother to use her hands to eat it because dogs don’t have hands! They have paws! What kind of dog would Jen be if she was using her paws to eat? That would be ridiculous! Dogs only use their mouths to eat and she couldn’t imagine eating in any other way.
As Jen continued to eat her dog food, she felt her tail wagging furiously behind her as her butt was raised in mid air. She was just so happy that she gets to experience the carefree life of being a dog and that was truly something that couldn’t and shouldn’t be taken away from her! She was already having so much fun and it looked like she was just getting started!
As she polished off the last of the dog food, she happily panted. That was the best meal that she had ever had in a long time! It’s no wonder that dogs love this delicious food! But that was only one of two bowls that she finished.
She moved over to the water bowl and slipped her tongue out and started lapping it up. The cold water was so nice and refreshing and it made her mouth feel so cool and moist after enjoying a big bowl of the delicious kibble. She took big gulps out of it with her tongue which made it a lot easier for her to drink it all up.
After she was finished with her water, she licked both the food and water bowls clean until they were completely empty. Not even a single student gave her a glance at what she just did. Again, they all acted like this was completely normal.
To Jen, that had to be the best meal that she had in a long time and she hopes to get the chance to enjoy even more of the dog food in the near future because it is something that she could definitely get used to eating for a while!
