Robert was on sensory overload. Well relatively for his maggot body.
First was his "smell" sense confirming several things after feeling it out. There was some sort of smell from his clothing. it was still completely alien from him, but he was able to tell that smells were coming from various articles of clothing. There also seemed to be a residual of "something" from above the clothing, which he guessed was his actual body before the transformation. Then there was the whole of the room he was in, which worked in concert with his "feel" sense to confirmed the cool, air conditioned, and otherwise sanitized nature of the room. Also finally out from his shirt, he could also confirm his own unique smell.
Next was his "sight", or lack thereof. First off, he wasn't even sure had eyes in the traditional sense, as there didn't seem to be a "forward" or any sort of sight based around his head. Instead he sort of "saw" things around himself, but with a very limited field of view that ended in a fog after a certain distance. As for any sort of image he saw, there was almost done other then being able to tell darkness from light very easily. After just spending some time getting use to his sight, Robert was able to tell where the main light source in the room was coming from, the general shape and distance of his clothing, and even an idea of how his own body looked like. However, he wasn't able tell how far away the walls of the room he remembered to be there, severely limited by his new vision. Have some weird 360 vision, including under him, was weird, especially with no ability to blink but he didn't feel discomfort from it.
Spending some more general time, Robert got much more use to using and comprehending his new body of some sort of female maggot. He was some sort of grubby thing, more length then thickness with no signs of eyes at all. Moving along the floor and his own clothing gave him plenty of exercise in movement, finding out "climbing" over the hills and crease of his clothing came easier then expected. He didn't have enough senses to tell if he had some hairs or something helping out, but he did at least have some moist layer of slime on his skin that helped him along the floor and gripping yet moving with things. His set goals of getting across various parts of his clothing did seem to take quite a bit of time, but the experience was enough for him not to get severely bored.
Testing one last item, he finally played with his "mouth" for taste. He originally tried just doing something with the floor, and felt that besides being a basic hole in his head, he did FEEL he had teeth he could put into the floor in a circular shape, but just barely. Some fluid came out as well, although for taste he didn't taste anything, although it wasn't like he could put the floor in his mouth. He had better luck with his clothing where he was able to latch on to some parts with the same action, and the little bits there able to get into his mouth had some flavor, but only just enough to differentiate between the fabric of the shirt, the tag on the inside, and so on.
During the whole experience he found out that he was barely the length of a button his shirt at a quarter inch and could barely comprehend the writing on the tag of his shirt, barely able to tell the symbols apart.
So experiencing all the basic senses of his body, his HUD from before suddenly popped up with a "Basic Training Complete" message. It was jarring considering his new senses but it made him feel better the HUD would seem to work regardless of how deprived his body of senses. Robert wondered what would come next...
