Brenda the Zookeeper arrived, heading into the employee locker room and changing into her uniform, a tan shirt with a nametag on it. She hurried, running a bit behind schedule. She needed to get ready. Her assignment today was in the avian habitat...where she would be handling several birds and giving visitors a closer look.
Entering just shortly before the first show, she unlocked one of the smaller habitats, holding out her arm. A grey parrot flew and landed on it. "Good morning, Taylor," Brenda said.
"Good morning," Taylor squawked. "Ready for the show?"
"Ready for the show!" Brenda repeated.
"I'll take that as a yes," Taylor said. The parrot hopped off Brenda's arm and landed on the ground in front of a perch.
Brenda seemed oblivious to this. She whistled. "Ready for the show!" she repeated. Her hands fell to her sides. They seemed to be getting longer and thinners, her fingers stretching out.
Bryan, having finished his work in the office with the Chronovac, was passing by when he heard a voice call out to him. "Hey, Bryan."
He turned to see a human sized parrot standing there. While parrots normally are not easy to identify by gender, this one had a very delicated figure, with arms that ended in feather like fingers, all wrapped in a grey uniform and nametag.
"Hey...Taylor," he said, approaching close enough to see the nametag.
Behind Taylor, he saw the first, but not the last strange sight of the day. A tiny human on a perch, tan colored, her arms flat against her sides and her hands transformed into what looked like giant wings.
