Returning to her room, Sidney could only wonder about the jewelry, how pretty it was, how it just vanished into thin air and how just holding it in her hands made her feel better. The wonder and confidence she felt then turned sour and bleak, making her wonder what the point in anything in life is.
Just then, something sparkled. Sidney wonders what that was, given that she hadn’t turned on the lights in the room when she came in, only to see a headpiece on the table. It wasn’t as fancy as the one she had found before, but it was still undeniably pretty, with green gems instead of the amethyst colored ones, more like a headband with a pretty accessory attached to it as well. But at the end, it was still pretty and Sidney had the desire to wear it.
Looking up hairstyles that would look nice with the new accessory, Sidney started to feel much better then she had ever before in life, only eclipsed by the confidence given by the first headpiece. She looked at her reflection and started to wonder about what to do during the weekend…

“Just a replacement then?” Maggie, after the girls left to stay the night at Dana’s before going back to the commune, asked Taylor.
“Sort of,” Taylor shrugged, “The enchantments on Paulette the headpiece were made with Darla in mind. The ones on the new one are done with Sidney in mind.”
“But, if she loses or removes this one, won’t she just go back to…her old self?”
“Depends on how long she wears it before taking it off at the start, but after a while, it will be her own confidence, so she won’t need the headpieces help in the future and it will then just become a normal accessory. And you can be surprised by how much life can change if you just have a little bit of confidence.”
“Oh, I can imagine.” Maggie smiled, thinking over some of the past events over, “So, will Sidney become another follower then?”
“If she ends up meeting them and wants to, but she doesn’t have to. The commune has a lot of good-hearted people, so Sidney could become friends with them if she ever meets them. Why?”
“You saw Paulette.”
“And she has a right to meet people, but I won’t stop her. Besides, I’m not their pet genie, who can make magic happen at the snap of their fingers, so she won’t go meeting the girl by saying ‘hi, I’m the jeweled headpiece you picked up the other day, but vanished from your hand’. A one-way trip to the nuthouse, if I ever heard one.”
“Fair. So,” Maggie laid back down in Taylor’s bed, “Now that that’s over…what do you want to do now?”
Taylor thought about it…
