Before I had a chance to respond, I saw students filing in, signaling that second period was about to start. Knowing that I would most likely have to teach in Ms. Jessica's place. I frantically scanned her desk for her plans. Luckily, her scheduler was open, indicating that she was most responsible for freshmen this year, and second period would be a repeat of first period, which consisted of going over the syllabus and doing a reading assignment to round off the period. "Should be easily enough," I thought.
To prepare, I stood up from Ms. Jessica's chair. The heels now adorning my small feet caused me to stumble a bit, as I found myself holding onto Ms. Jessica's desk for support. Feeling slightly embarrassed, I gave a quick glance around the classroom. All the students seemed to be engaged in their conversations, with no one suspecting anything. Taking a breath of relief, I wiggled my toes to readjust my heels, feeling the nylon pantyhose encasing my slim feet and legs for the first time. "Man. Women's clothes and shoes feel so different than guys. Gotta get used to this," I muttered softly.
As the bell rung, the students immediately quieted down as I made my way to the front board of the classroom. With each step, I seem to get a firmer grasp of my new body, including the heavy weight on my chest, my rear, the flowing strands of hair, and of course, the heels. So different, yet they seem to balance each other out, as I began to feel comfortable walking (literally) in Ms. Jessica's shoes.
The silence made me nervous, as I realized that I was now the teacher of the class. "H...hello, class. Welcome to your first day of high school!" I tried my best to imitate Ms. Jessica from my experience earlier. While it sounded timid, my voice and authority was enough to have the students obey me, thankfully.
As I went over the syllabus, rehashing what I had known from first period, I saw a familiar face among the students. It was Billy from middle school, someone who constantly picked on me through those years. Finding myself staring at his gruff physique and matching demeanor, I realized that I felt butterflies in my stomach by instinct. However, I quickly reminded myself that I was now Ms. Jessica, which explained why he wasn't sneering or mocking me for over 10 minutes now.
Fear turned into excitement, as I realized that I could essentially dish out some revenge with my new position, and Billy would be none the wiser. A small smile crept over my face, as I held back a more menacing one that would've looked uncharacteristic on Ms. Jessica's face. "So Billy, what is the late assignment policy?" I asked with glee.
"Huh?" Billy asked perplexingly. He was obviously not paying attention to my talk earlier, and he was going to pay for it now.
"Young man, if you're not going to pay attention in the first day of school, then how should I expect you to listen for the whole school year. Please read the policy on the syllabus out aloud to the whole class," I reprimanded.
Several students snickered as Billy's face turned a nice shade of pink. He straightened himself, stammered, "I'm--I'm sorry," and read the requested section. For the first time in my life, I felt prideful around Billy. He might not know it, but one of his biggest victims in middle school just gave him a good payback.
The rest of the syllabus discussion went smoothly, as I snuck in a couple more jabs at Billy, grinning with every attempt. Of course, I didn't want to do too much, since I didn't want to sour Ms. Jessica's reputation. She seemed like a nice teacher, so I didn't want to bring her down for my revenge. After assigning the reading assignment for the remainder of the period, I sat back down in my chair. Not one of those hard student chairs, but Ms. Jessica's soft cushioned chair. I laid back as I relaxed my sore feet (heels are hard to stand in for a long time!), and grabbed a sip of coffee for my parched mouth. Staring at the students, it was surreal thinking that I was one of them earlier today. Sure, my student life wasn't downright pitiful (save for Billy), but being a teacher also has its perks. I was no longer directly supervised, and I get to boss around, especially Billy, who was reading attentively now. "Guess I really knocked some sense into him today. That was fun," I whispered under my breath, making sure no one heard me.
