To Leah’s disappointment, she’s thoroughly emptied herself, and is unable to use the diaper again before they leave. Multiple times during the shopping, she squats and tries, but her diaper stays clean.
“Don’t push yourself,” Tina scolds, after Leah fails to go for the third time. “You’ll just hurt yourself.”
“All right,” Leah mumbles, deciding to give up on the diaper testing for now. They finish shopping and load up in the car. As Leah is dressed like a very young girl, Tina buckles her into the car seat she keeps for work emergencies.
On the way to their next errand, Leah tries to use the diaper again. To her relief, she manages to pee easily. It takes a bit more effort, but she’s also able to poop. Not thinking about her current location, she eagerly empties her bowels into her diaper. The smell quickly fills the car. Tina looks at her in the rearview mirror.
“You made boom-boom, huh?”
“I peed, too.”
“Great! I’ll change you once we get to the next place.” Tina frowns at the cars in front of them. “If we ever get out of this traffic jam, that is.”
The traffic jam lasts for a long time. Not only is the smell getting unbearable, but the sensation of clammy, mushy poop in her wet diaper is making Leah incredibly uncomfortable.
“Leah?” Tina calls finally. Leah looks up. “We’re going to be here for a while, I think. Do you want me to pull over really quick and just change you right now?”
On the one hand, it would be great to get changed. On the other, Leah cringes at getting a diaper change on the side of a road. Leah decides she can wait for a change.
"No, it's fine," she says. She crosses her fingers, hoping that the smell isn't so bad that Tina will change her now anyways.
