"What the hell is this?" said Tom. "Why are you here? What's this about Jeff and David?"
Ben took a deep breath. "Okay, look. I know this sounds crazy. But this nightclub ... it DOES things to people. It changes them. It ... turns them into things."
"Are you out of your mind? That's crazy," said Tom. "Are you going to tell me what's up or do I have to call securit --" he stopped abruptly as Ben removed his cap, his two donkey ears standing straight up. They'd grown a bit since Ben put the cap on; now they were just slightly taller than his head.
"Those can't be real," breathed Tom.
Ben made them twitch. "They're real," he said, starting to climb down the ladder from the scaffolding. "I was here with the guys last night. The whole crowd started to change, and we ran. Jeff started changing right away, and then David; they both struggled against it, but no good. I started to change, too, but I got away."
"I don't believe this," said Tom, transfixed. He reached out to touch one of Ben's ears, and Ben let him stroke it, gently. "You're so soft," he said, then added, "and you seem ... bigger."
"Yeah," said Ben, looking down at himself. He was definitely more muscular than he was 24 hours ago, with big broad shoulders and chest. He had a bit of a belly, too, and his ass was wider than it had ever been. "Check this out," he said, lifting up his shirt a bit. His belly was now totally covered in soft brown hairs, and his sheath reached up almost to his belly button.
"Holy shit," said Tom.
Ben reached down into his pants and pulled his tail out over the waistband, twitching it back and forth.
"HOLY SHIT," said Tom again, "look at you!"
Ben stood there, waiting for Tom to say more. His tail flicked from side to side, his ears twisted to listen to his surroundings. He was starting to get more comfortable in this new body; he actually felt a bit of pride at his big new muscles and hair. Rather than feeling like a strange specimen in from of Tom, Ben started to feel sort of like he was showing himself off, displaying his assets.
"Look at you," Tom said again. He paused. "You actually ... you look really good."
