Jake startled, remember what Axel had said,
'Yeah, yeah, you and everyone at school have made the ‘bird people’ comparison every week since the game has come out.'
Axel had gotten that game only last year, Axel had graduated years ago...
'But I ordered for the only change to be Axel's species!' Okay, this was a paradox. Was there something about the pendant he didn't know?
And spring sun? It was summer vacation! It was why he'd invited Zack and Pablo over to begin with!
Axel wondered if there was someone else out there with one of these things changing reality and Axel just now began to notice how he was 'part of the club!'
He checked.Still summer vacation. But Axel was back in highschool. The year hadn't changed. But it was before Axel had not gone collage and spent two years feed off their divorced father.
"Okay. That's weird... " You wondered if this would happen again.
Zack and Pablo wouldn't be over for a little while longer (having obligations at home) but had promised too be over as fast as they could. ... Given you could change anyone only once, maybe you should test it a bit more before using it on your friends or yourself.
Yes, that meant testing it on other people instead, but the official and formal way the pendant was randomly given to him, and the chance to finally live out one of his lifetime fantasies, and that Jake was a teenager, squashed such concerns.
Axel continued to play his video game as you went back outside on the clear summer day.
First you spotted your elderly neighbor, a woman in her sixties, quiet tending her garden. Her name was Mrs. Maddy Smith or something, you hadn't exactly spent time to get to know her.
You used the pendant.
Her body becomes covered in black segmented armor. Her feet become two sets of claws. Her body, arms and legs become incredibly skinny. Her breasts becoming like an armored breast plate. Her eyes became a pair of golden multifaceted windows. A pair of antenna that curled up formed out of her forehead. Her neck gained a fully orange mane. Her body became smooth and featureless when her clothes vanished. Her wings became black armored like he legs and the rest of her, her hand became just three long black digits. And... there were the wings. The beautiful wings of a monarch butterfly. They spread out behind her, large and so elegant. Tiny scales making up their beautiful pattern.
She floated in the air in spite of the law of weight ratio saying it should have been impossible. She simply continued to tend the garden... and... a long 'tongue' stretched from her mouth, 'tasting' the flowers. The insectoid neighbor just continuing with her day.
"Well, I guess that proves I can do stuff without disrupting their lives... path of least resistance? But... this feels kinda boring. I need something more... intense? I mean, test to see just how total I can someone's life, not just their species and everything carries on as normal... Hmmm."
