Ty was angry, so angry, she feels she could burn everything around her to the ground! But an idea strikes like lightning and Ty takes her chance, ‘I wish I was the mother and June was the daughter!’
A strange popping sound resounded, and Ty found herself in front of Mark. But she didn’t find it strange or worrying, rather normal. Her body much older and can feel the years that were added. Her mind changing with age related wisdom and new memories. Quickly going through the new memories, Ty quickly got the picture – and it is interesting.
The wording of ‘I was the mother and June was the daughter’ certainly left a lot of room to improvise. She didn’t live June’s life, nor did June live hers. Ty the Mom was also a foster child but had ended up with some particular religious nuts who had the wackiest interpretations of the texts ever, so stifling that Ty had rebelled a lot. Which lead to her, at 16, sneaking into a college party via lying about her age to a now clearly stoned guy who let her in. It ended up with her getting drunk and sleeping with a guy – Mark – and ending up pregnant because of it.
To not completely ruin the life of the guy, Ty and Mark ended up getting married. The couple had come to an agreement of annulling their marriage when she was an adult, so each could go on with their lives, but over time, they ended up falling in love. It was a slow process, but from the birth of little June, there was a sensible shift in their relationship. So, they stayed together and more then made it work.
June had a pretty average life – neither parent wanting to repeat the mistakes of their parents, so they let their daughter have plenty of freedom. Freedom which resulted in June going to a party and getting knocked her.
And Ty can still feel the fetus she’s pregnant with.
So, in addition to her still being pregnant, June is also pregnant. Interesting.
With the anger gone, Ty says softly, “Mark, you can’t be too mad at her.”
“Taylor, she is sixteen.”
“And considering she went to a high school party, so is the dad.”
“That’s not what I’m worried about, Ty!”
“Then what? Is it…us?” She gently grasped her belly. Mark quickly got up and walked over to her, grasping her hands, “No, no, never you. Yes, the first time was terrifying, but it’s behind us. I just…don’t want her making the same mistakes as we had, you know?”
“Well, if we’re with her every step of the way, maybe she won’t. But we still should respect her choices. It is her life, not ours. We can offer advice and guidance, but June gets to have a say in this.”
“When did you get so wise?” Mark teased but he seemed more relaxed now, “Alright, let’s talk with her then. Give her this speech you just did. And see where we go from here?”
Ty smiled, the reasonable and loveable man from her memories appearing before her, “That’s the plan, love. Now,” She took his hand and both proceeded to go where June was waiting (Dustin was there too, but more so out of the ‘kids are bastards’ phase to see how much trouble she gets into). But that wasn’t going to stop them.
Maybe Dustin can benefit from this talk as well…
