Chris went to the Spencer kitchen where Angela had made toasted sandwiches 'How's the ankle? You don't seem to be limping at all'
'It seems to be perfectly normal. No pain or anything' Chris replied in Nancy's voice. 'It's as good as new' That was the truth.
'If I hadn't seen how swollen it was I would have said you were faking it. However I did see it. I'm amazed. That doctor has the touch' commented Angela.
'Yeah I would have rated the chance of you going on your date tonight as zero. I guess it's back on' said Alison who was pouring herself a lemonade.
'Date? What date?' said Angela looking at Chris.
Chris found herself blushing. Alison replied on her behalf. 'Little sister is going out with her knight in shining armour. Sir Christopher I believe his name is'
'You hadn't told me about this Nancy' said Angela looking at Chris.
'Um we were planning to go out....but I cancelled it when we were at the surgery.....it will have to be another day'
'But you must ring him up and tell him it's back on. You foot is cured'
'No it's alright. He was happy to have a rain check'
'Don't be silly Nancy. Boys as nice as Chris are hard to find. Get on the phone right now and tell him the dates back on. If you don't I will' said Alison. 'He was the one who bought your phone back this morning. He's hot for you'
'I don't think so. The date can wait. I no longer feel like going out tonight. My ankle is still a bit sore'
'You just told us it was feeling as good as new' Alison pointed out. 'You're not making sense'
'Alison, leave her alone. If Nancy wants to stay home that's her choice. I have plenty of chores around the house she can help me with'
'Oh but I promised Tanya I would go shopping with her' said Chris. She didn't want to stay here. She needed to get over to the Morrison house.
'What? You just said your ankle was sore' Alison reminded her seeming sister 'Now you want to go shopping? Make your mind up. Do Chris a favour as well. If you don't want to go out with him. Tell him. Don't leave him lingering'
'I do want to go out with him. Just not tonight'
'Oh I forgot this is the night you turn into a werewolf. How silly of me'
'Enough Alison. Leave your sister alone' said Angela who was getting fed up with her daughters bickering. 'Nancy it's up to you whether you go shopping or on a date. However before you go anywhere I want you to bring the washing in, sort it out and do the ironing. Alison you can clean up the kitchen once we have eaten. What are you plans for tonight Alison? Will you be home for dinner?'
'Depends whether Chris has a big brother'
'He doesn't' replied an upset Chris. How was she going to do Nancy's chores? She had never ironed anything in her life.
For the duration of the lunch Chris was silent. She listened to Alison talking about her life or more precisely the boys at college. It sounded as if she had a few friends who were male but the one she was keen on was too shy. Angela gave Alison advice on how to flirt with said boy so he would know she was interested.
Angela thought Nancy's silence was due to teenage moodiness. She could see that Alison's taunting had upset Nancy. She did wonder why. And why was Nancy trying to get out of her date? Perhaps she was having a bit of PMT? No that didn't make sense - Nancy had her period only last week. Maybe she would try and have a mother/daughter talk later.
As soon as Chris had eaten her sandwich she went back to Nancy's room and rang her old number. Nancy answered in Chris's true voice. 'I have to do your chores before I can come over. I have to sort out the washing and do the ironing. How am I going to do that?'
'Well I've just done your chores so it's only fair you do mine'
'But I don't know which clothes are yours and which are your Mums or your sisters. And where do you keep your iron? I need help.'
'I suppose I could come over. Mum would excuse you from doing the chores if your boyfriend showed up'
'I've just spent 10 minutes explaining to your Mum and Alison that we are not going on a date tonight. I don't think you showing up as you are would help. Alison would make me wear make-up if she knew "Chris" was coming over'
'Ha! I might come over just to see that happen!'
'Don't you dare!'
'What if Tanya comes over?'
'I don't think she can change back to herself yet. She is stuck as Fat Mary until tonight'
'Maybe she can't but I can. I can become Tanya and come over to see my best bud. Tanya comes over all the time. Quite often she has to hang around while I finish my chores. I'll see you in about an hour'
