My eyes go wide as I look catch sight of the empty spot where my purse should be. Amanda's squirming forces me to put that aside for the moment. I hurry her to the bathroom and once she's seated on the toilet, I inform her of my discovery.
Wide eyed, she says, "Are you sure? Maybe you were looking in the wrong spot."
I shake my head, "Yes I'm sure! I'm sure your dumb idea means that were stuck as little girls right now!"
"Don't yell at me! Besides don't you have a second bottle at home?"
"You mean the place that's an hour walk away at our normal sized and that I don't have keys to because my purse is gone?"
"Oh right," Amanda pauses in thought for a moment, "...well maybe your purse got turned in for being lost. Or we can just go to your house and have someone let us in."
I roll my eyes, "Great plans Amanda. Either hope that someone will happen to have turned my purse in and that they'll hand it over to some random 9 year old. Or we have to walk all the way home like this and hope someone will believe who we are."
Amanda crosses her arms in a pout, "Well do you have a better idea?"
I open my mouth to snap back and then close it again. She's right those two terrible plans are all we've got right now. I weigh them for a moment and then say, "Fine let's..."
