Sachiko watched anxiously from the woods, hoping her new friends would come by. The teens had been shocked when she had transformed from a fox into a girl. Despite the initial shock the teens seemed genuinely intrigued, Sachiko could now only hope they would show up as they promised.
Sachiko was beginning to grow nervous, had she ruined any chance of making friends? Sighing the ghost fox was ready to make for home when she suddenly heard someone calling her name. Turning she smiled as the four young teens now stood in a clearing.
Gail and the others scanned the woods nervously, waiting to see if Sachiko would appear again. The quartet had been surprised to discover the strange young girl they had met at the playground was in fact the ghost fox. "Do you think she'll come," Stella asked.
"Hope so," Ewart whispered. "I want to know what else she can do. I mean, how often do you actually get to meet a real live ghost."
"I dont think shes a ghost," Pam stated. "But she is something, I dont know, supernatural." The sounds of twigs now snapping drew everyone's attention.
Gail now crept forward, kneeling down with a small stuffed animal in her hand. "Sachiko is that you," she whispered. "We um, wanted to see you again. I, I brought you a toy if you want it." Gail now watched as a small silver white fox poked her head out from behind some bushes. The fox cautious crept forward, sniffing the air as she walked forward. As she now stood only a few feet from Gail, she transformed from fox to girl, taking the small stuffed animal and hugging it tightly.
"Oh thank you," Sachiko said happily. "I dont think I have a stuffed animal cat at home."
"Your welcome," Gail smiled. "I bought it for you on the way here. Sorry we were late."
"Its okay," Sachiko said happily. "Its just nice to have some new friends." The teens now slowly approached the girl, unsure of what to ask. It was finally Stella who asked the question they all were thinking. "So what exactly are you?"
"Technically I guess I'm a kitsune," Sachiko replied. "But my mommy is an angel so technically that makes me part angel too. All I know is that I'm the only one of my kind."
"You're the only kitsune," Ewart asked, to which Sachiko shook her head. "No," she said. "In fact theirs a whole town of kitsune but they exist in a different world."
The teens nodded, they had studied Japaneese folklore and knew of the legends of the kitsune. None of them though actually ever thought they would meet one. Now to actually talk with one and learn that many more existed the teens were intrigued.
"So where are your parents then," Gail asked. "Do they know your meeting with us?"
"Mommy and papa are at home," Sachiko stated. "They usually watch out for Granny Yuriko. Rexie keeps an eye on me, shes a cherub."
"A cherub," Pam asked. "Like in stories?"
"Well she used to be a familiar," Sachiko stated. "But when her witch died she kind of stuck around to protect me and granny."
The teens now looked at one another in bemusement. Angel's? Kitsune? Cherubs? Witches? What had they stumbled upon?
"So Sachiko," Ewart stated. "We wanted to know if you wanted to, um, hangout."
"Really," Sachiko exclaimed happily.
The teens nodded. "Yeah," Gail said happily. "Its not everyday you meet a ghost fox or kitsune or whatever. We really want to get to know you."
"That sounds like fun," Sachiko said happily. "And you can just call me Sachiko. Not ghost fox or whatever."
"Sorry," Pam stammered, slightly embarrassed.
"Its okay," Sachiko smiled. "People usually dont know what to say when they meet me. So, what would you like to do?"
