Margaret who is their black mother frustratingly taps through the phone menus as her children chatter in the back, bickering after their fight.
She wants to know what all the fuss is with this so-called "Reality Changing App" as it is listed on the phone. She generates a new sentence as she figures it is some sort of a text-based video game.
"Two lesbians with children drive to the beach"
That's funny, it is exactly what we are doing. Must be children's settings.
The program asks her to change one word. She complies deciding to erase character's children and give kids the phone back as a joke at their expense.
"Two lesbians without children drive to the beach"
Instantly she feels more relaxed than she felt in years as her muscles soften and shoulder tension releases, making her sigh from the nice feeling. "I feel so relaxed. Did you get new seats or something?"
Jane laughs and says "No. I think it's just this amazing beach weather we're having."
Margaret lays back on her reclined seat enjoying the softness against her back and warmth of a car bathed in sunshine.
After a few minutes she wonders why her children were so quiet and so she looks back seeing a bunch of food and inflatable beach toys.
She thinks back to the phone application. "No, it can't be." she looks at the screen shielding it from the sun.
"Margaret realizes she erased her children"
She looks at the screen with an utter disbelief. It can't be.
She generates a new sentence
"Margaret's kids are erased."
If this app can really affect the reality she'll have to do something to bring them back. There has to be a way. She stares at the sentence carefully trying to figure out a way to rephrase it so she can bring them back.
Then she got it.
"Margaret's kids are back"
After another click she finds herself in a familiar heavy state. All three children were now back where they were before.
Inside her womb, waiting to be born.
And now she has all of them inside at the same time making her hormones all out of wack.
