Marcia limped along the path trying to get back to the front of the mansion, however something was amiss. As she walked a number of inconsistencies developed that Marcia was trying to parse through.
First was the length, the house was certainly large, but after what felt like a half hour Marcia would have expected to be at the entrance.
Second, the longer she walked the muddier the path got. She would normally expect the path would be kept cleanest closest to the front not the other way around.
Third, when Marcia's vision relaxed she could swear there was a faint shimmering on her periphery, but whenever she tried to look for the source it vanished.
Something suddenly clicked and Marcia to a few steps off the path. Or rather the illusion as the moment she did, she stepped through a shimmering barrier and found herself in the middle of the woods.
God she's gotten rusty. How could she fall for something so obvious? She spun around trying to find her way back to the mansion but can spot no sign of it. Normally a scrying spell would clarify the situation, but her scrying stone is bag with the banshee.
If she wanted to get back to the mansion, she would have to try tracking her own steps back. Alternatively, who or whatever created the illusion certainly knew the way back.
