Jonathan’s father drove him to a nearby fast food restaurant. As they waited in the drive through, he asked him a question, “So little man, do you want chicken nuggies or a hamburger?”
“Nuggies!”
“Alright!”
Eventually they reached farther down the line and his dad ordered food. Just from hearing the order, he can tell he was getting food for the entire family.
They got their food and drove home. Jonathan’s mother wasn’t so happy at ‘Paw Paw’ for buying so many things.
“Don’t worry, Jonathan’s college savings were the only things tapped into. If he’s gonna leave the child with us, he could at least leave his money too.” His father said.
Jonathan wasn’t aware that his father made him a college savings account. He didn’t even know how much was on it. All he knows now is that there’s at least 1 thousand less dollars on it.
The food was brought in first, then the clothes, and finally the toys. Jonathan’s brother George looked like he was feeling better.
“You got him that many things? How come I didn’t get all this treatment?” George asked.
“That’s because your father didn’t have a multi-thousand dollar savings account of your older brother’s back then. We outta let you have some of the money too since your brother probably won’t come back.” His mother suggested.
“Wait do I have a savings account too? Just give it all to me since I’m actually wanting to go to college!” His brother said.
“You have your account! We will open it up when you get accepted into a college. For now, just eat your food and don’t puke it up!”
His mom, brother, and Jonathan ate at the table while his father spent the next hour upstairs. Jonathan could hear things being moved around, and that worried him since it was possibly his room.
After the three of them finished eating, they all relaxed. A few hours had passed and Jonathan needed a change so his mother took him up for one. As he was going to his room, both his mother and he were surprised at the reorganization of it.
From an employed young adult to a toddler style, the entire room was being rearranged. Most of Jonathan’s old things were in boxes labeled his name.
“Honey! What are you doing?” His mother yelled out.
“Since he won’t be using this room, I’ve decided to make it age appropriate!”
But Jonathan’s bed! His clothes! You didn’t have to move everything!”
“Nonsense! A little boy who’s growing up needs to have a perfect room to grow up in!”
Jonathan’s furniture was mostly replaced by their baby counterpart. His queen sized bed turned into a tiny bed with rails on the side. His dresser and night stand stayed, but a changing table was added. On that changing table was the misplaced regression lotion.
“Well it’s a good thing you brought that table down! He needed a change!” His mother picked him up and undressed him. Jonathan laid there hoping neither of them would touch the lotion. Luckily, they didn’t.
Jonathan received another clean diaper and was placed on the floor. His parents continued to argue about how they should deal with their son’s room.
Looking around, Jonathan was able to see his clock still on the wall. It read “4:55”, which means it wouldn’t be long until Jonathan changed back.
